After a four year degree studying French, German and Spanish - I decided the obvious thing to do next was teach English in Japan! Random - but I’m so thankful I made this decision: because it was my introduction to teaching and set me on the path as an educator. 3 years later, I trained as a yoga teacher in Scotland, before moving to Cornwall and deciding I wanted to be a Primary School Teacher. I wanted to share with kids so much about life and the world! Teaching was, admittedly, harder than expected. I loved elements but hated others. I’d always prioritised my health and wellbeing - but I found myself becoming stressed like I’d never experienced before. I know now that if I’d have continued to prioritise my own wellbeing, not only would teaching have been easier - but the children would have also benefited so much more. This is one of the key reasons Class Yoga is here: to raise the wellbeing of educators, so that the pupils benefit in turn. (Listen to more on this, here.) I believe we need to look after our own wellbeing to raise the wellbeing of our pupils I started to share yoga when I could. I got to see what worked and what didn’t; and I got a glimpse of some promising results. But when I left full-time teaching and started supply (and sharing more yoga) I started getting called back - to teach yoga! Because now the clear evidence, of greater calm and focus in children in the classroom after yoga, was shining out! So began my calling to teach yoga to more children, in more schools. Over this time, I developed and refined my method of teaching mindful movement to children, that I still teach and train others in, today. Dear Parent Culross Primary School is a small school set in the historical village of Culross. The main school building has 4 classrooms. There is a dining/gym hall, a library, a resource area and office accommodation. We opened one of our classrooms as a Confucius Classroom in February 2018 and we have one Chinese exchange teacher based here. As well as teaching across the Queen Anne High School cluster they offer immersion days for all pupils across West Fife and Queen Anne High cluster schools. We have a large playground and grassed area, which is used to its full advantage throughout the year for play, sports, outdoor learning and Eco-activities. We promote active travel to school using the WOW Travel Tracker. We follow the The Curriculum for Excellence where learning and teaching focuses on all curricular areas, ensuring balance, breadth, coherence and depth. Children have the opportunity to be taught a musical instrument from P5 onwards. We have a Support for Learning Teacher based in school to support and challenge where needed. The Parent Council is very supportive of the school and the fundraising branch supports the school through fundraising and organising fun events. A residential excursion is offered to P6/7 every year to Ardroy Outdoor Education Centre. We also offer a variety of sports in addition to the PE curriculum. We have been awarded our Silver Sports Scotland Award which we are very proud of. We run a Bikeability award every year for P5/6/7. We are also a Health Promoting School. Our pupils run a healthy tuck shop - Monday to Friday. We provide school dinners which are brought in from Camdean Primary School. All Primary 1 - Primary 5 receive free school meals. We have recently been awarded Level 1 Rights Respecting School Accreditation.

“An integral process of how we move and breathe to connect to our life authentically. “ Kristel founded Yoga Horizons in 2010. She built three classes of 6 committed yoga students that stood standing for three years, all in different locations, one studio at her own home in Westfield, Hastings. After 10 years of specializing in 1-1 classes both therapeutically and as tailored yoga sessions for entrepreneurs, artists, musicians, sports, music courses and Cooperate Clients such as SAP and Lego, Kristel moved to develop her skills and become apart of the Occupational Team at The Huntercombe Hospital, Roehampton. In 2018, She was invited by the Director to write a program for yoga on Mental Health and Wellbeing, having become a popular Teacher and Facilitator for both Doctors, Psychologists and Patients. Lack of resources from public and private funding meant that the project reached proposal level. Kristel continued training, most recently before lockdown expanding into Yoga is nurseries and schools. With the lift of lockdown Kristel began outreach Therapy using yoga and wellbeing tools developed through movement and Therapy training to enhance the lives of children under 18 suffering with Autism, Learning disabilities and epilepsy. Kristel works outreach to Guildford, Surrey and Surrounding areas. In Sport, Kristel has been invited to be a visiting teacher at the Halerquins Women’s Rugby league team, bringing her practise to English National and International Women’s Sport as well as supporting the Young Mascots on Pitch side to Chelsea FC with their warm up to accompany the footballers onto the pitch. « I am delighted to be apart of Women’s International Sport and share in their Yoga Journey » Kristel Seidler Kristel continues to support Women’s sport at Chelsea FC in the Womens League.

Covid -19 response Please note that due to COVID-19, our consultants have taken the difficult decision to suspend all face-to-face group and individual activities and services in response to Covid-19. This is to protect the most vulnerable members of the community and safeguard the health and wellbeing of everyone. We are starting face to face sessions in small groups and one to one for the most vulnerable young people. Our team have put in place alternative services where possible, e.g. telephone appointments, zoom sessions in Romanes and English. We are still doing outreach and provide educational activities to the most disadvantaged and vulnerable young people .
