NVQ Academy

nvq academy

At NVQ Academy we have specialised in the delivery of Vocational Qualifications within the Childcare and Care Sectors since 1996. NVQ Academy works with Organisations to establish a system that streamlines the qualification process by using naturally occurring Performance Evidence and utilises your own in-house training for Knowledge evidence.  The use of Work-Based assessment allows for the creation of an integrated rolling programme of qualifications that can occur within your own time/requirement frameworks. We are not reliant on Government funding and therefore staff do not need to complete extraneous elements required for funding only purposes - and can concentrate on any regulatory bodies (and/or your own) requirements. Our use of in-house Work-Based Assessors* also eliminates the need for outside personnel to visit your care settings.  This is valued by our clients who have sensitive environments. *Training and Qualification (if necessary) of an appropriate senior member of your staff included in package price. Note: Minimum number of Learners apply If you do not have a senior member of staff available to act as a Work-Based Assessor - please contact us to discuss alternative arrangements. Please note - All the Qualifications offered by NVQ Academy are vocational qualifications and require the Learner/s to be working within the Childcare/Care Sector in order to provide the relevant evidence.  We are unable to deliver Qualifications directly to single Learners or those who are not employed in the Care Sector. NVQ Academy offers the following Awards throughout England: * Level 3 Diploma Residential Childcare * Level 5 Diploma Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare * Level 3 Diploma Children and Young People's Workforce - Social Care Pathway - Learning and Development Pathway * Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care * Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Children and Young People Services - Residential Management Pathway - Management Pathway - Advanced Practice Pathway * Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services - Residential Management Pathway - Management Pathway -Advanced Practice Pathway * Level 3 Certificate Assessing Vocational Achievement - offered as part of Diploma Packages * subject to minimum number of Candidates at site and availability of an appropriate senior member of staff to act as a Work-Based Assessor (Training and Qualification included in package price)

Hello, welcome to my page, you will find more information about me personally and professionally here. I am very passionate about inspiring others, reaching out and supporting people in a therapeutic way that suits them, their lifestyle and their individual needs. I am a very warm and friendly person, I work relationally, therefor the therapeutic relationship is important to me and I like to ensure that whom I am supporting has the space needed to explore and unwind what is troubling them. I have my own therapy space at Essential Space, this is a Communtiy Interest Company that I co-direct offering pay-what-you-can counselling and creative mentoring. You can find out more about the therapy services on the website www.essentialspace.co.uk. I am also happy to see or meet clients for 1-1 and group sessions in GP surgeries, community centres and in schools if required, and hold an enhanced DBS clearance certificate and have up-to-date Safeguarding policies and certificates. I became the founder of A space 2 Be in October 2018, over the last 28 years I have been extending my qualifications and experience to offer both adult and children's Counselling. I began Reflective & Clinical Supervision for staff working with adults in the community and in private practice, and counsellors supporting children, young people, families, and or GSRD clients. I have had counselling myself, this was a time of self-development that set me on a path, I left school and became a health practitioner, working in an institution and completing a college course in Health and Social Care. I specialised in early years and had a placement in a school, this is where I discovered a connection with young people and adults with learning differences. My career went on to working and supporting adults with rehabilitation. After becoming a mum of three children I took on the challenge of managing a well-being centre called the Isbourne in Cheltenham town centre, it was there that I realised how beneficial therapies are for supporting both physical health and mental health. I completed the mental health first aid certificates and began my counselling training. I have supported hidden victims of crime with a charity, Infobuzz. This role introduced me to working in a crisis support team, supporting families in the community and working within the criminal justice system and running creative art workshops in prison. I volunteered with Young Gloucestershire supporting their counselling service and this allowed me to extend my experience to working with young adults who were struggling with life's challenges. My adventures have continued into gaining certificates in 'Stress Less Mindfulness' and running adult sound retreats. I have naturally entwined mindfulness into my personal and professional life and have found the benefits have been endless. I have been able to share these skills with all of my clients as a mindful mindset works for anyone, anywhere and at any age! When I am not with someone in a 1-1 Counselling session, you will find me delivering training to professionals or facilitating sound baths and retreats. Most of my events are therapeutic and developed for deepening awareness with a chance to focus and recharge.

The local context (a small industrial town in rural northern Cumbria) is, perhaps, not one you might associate with academic excellence and yet we were the first secondary school in the county to have been judged “outstanding” by Ofsted under their revised framework. You will probably want to see for yourself what we have to offer and, to this end, I would be delighted to show you around. Emotional Intelligence – Plus (EQ+) I have always been a firm believer in the promotion of so-called ‘soft skills’, in Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and in improving the ability of pupils to interact effectively with others in different contexts. Many pupils suffer when they find themselves in a different social context (e.g. a discussion with an adult, a classroom presentation etc.) and find it hard to adapt. So, a few years ago, as part of the School Development Plan, we promoted this across the school through normal lessons and Form Periods to help pupils recognise its importance, and encouraged pupil progress in eight key areas, using where possible pupil role-models as teachers. These days, we regularly revisit EQ, albeit informally, encouraging pupils to be ‘EQ-competent’ and ‘interview ready’. And more recently, we have also embarked on a related project with an external company keen to promote Oracy Skills. Initially, we focussed on the whole of Year 8; latterly, we have adapted the programme to target around 100 pupils (from Year 7 to Year 12) who we believe might benefit more than others from this kind of intervention.
