The principle aim of the school is for everyone in our school community to ‘Thrive Together’. Heathfield has a long track record of high–quality engaging education for children in Basford and Bulwell, this has been guided by our core values of ‘Knowledge, Nurture and Enrichment’. We provide a rounded and tailored curriculum that meets the needs of every child by knowing their individual contexts, needs, knowledge and skills. We then use our Heathfield Pledge to outline the expectations that we place on the pupils and ourselves. We are a recently expanded Local Authority maintained school with two campuses. Our original school is on Scotland Road in Basford and accommodates up to 280 pupils plus a nursery. Our second campus is on Highbury Vale (approx. a mile apart). The Kersall Drive Campus opened in October 2015 and now accommodates an additional 420 pupils plus a nursery. Achievement and enjoyment are important goals that we are determined to provide for all of our pupils in a warm and friendly atmosphere. We pride ourselves in providing a secure, yet stimulating, and challenging learning environment. We want our pupils to develop their strengths whilst having the confidence to address targets and areas identified for improvement. Harry's Boxing Club is a place anyone can go to get fit and improve their boxing abilities. Run by Harry Skelton, an ex-boxing coach in the British Army, we train in Berkhamsted. Our aim is for everyone to have fun and get involved in the sport! MEET THE COACH Whilst learning to box and coach in the British Army, I had the opportunity to work with a vast variety of men and women. All with similar goals of getting fit and learning a new skill. Whether the intention to compete was there, or whether they simply wanted the fitness, the ethos and values of boxing remained the same and are centered around hard work and effort being the path to achieving greatness. After a while, I was able to put the six-packs and glory aside, and witness the other ways that boxing and fitness was having an effect on people. I observed that when people had a focus and a way to physically exert themselves regularly, there was a massive increase in their mental health and wellbeing. Things that are so massively undervalued like getting a full nights sleep, or having the ‘get up and go’ motivation were the less obvious by-products of regular boxing training and in turn, the soldiers who came to train were much better for it. After leaving the army, I formed an adults boxing fitness club and again, started seeing the same results. The camaraderie of the classes, the family feel, the fitness and the achievement when you complete that next boxing or fitness milestone were leaving people with less stress, more focus and a general feeling of wellbeing.

Manchester Environmental Education Network, or "MEEN" as it is more commonly known, is dedicated to supporting teachers, organisations and individuals working to promote environmental education and Education for Sustainability. To achieve this, we use a variety of methods: we run projects with schools, organise networking events, provide a termly newsletter and pool various free curriculum resources on this website. MEEN began life in 1994 as an informal organisation. It was run voluntarily by teachers who wanted to bring environmental issues into their teaching practice. Today, MEEN has become an independent charity. In January 2001 a coordinator was employed to support and build the network. Since then, MEEN has provided a range of CPD services, training sessions and networking events, conferences and numerous projects around sustainability with schools and educational providers. MEEN is now over 20 years old and still upholds its core values: it was set up to support its members and to promote the sustainability agenda within schools and to agencies working with schools. The first edition of Beehive, the MEEN newsletter, was produced in 1994, and despite a few changes in its format, continues to be produced today. MEEN has undergone two significant changes due to the impacts of austerity. Firstly, our remit changed from serving the city of Manchester to cover Greater Manchester. MEEN has always had members from schools in other parts of Greater Manchester so it seemed appropriate, especially as services in the other nine Council areas were being reduced, to widen our remit. Secondly, we now focus increasingly on projects working directly with schools either through the curriculum or working with young people in their Eco Committees.

Ethical Brand Directory was set up after the frustration our founder Roberta Lee experienced trying to find ethically produced clothing that didn’t compromise on aesthetics. Roberta also noticed the number of brands she discovered didn’t last long, and would go out of business after 1-3 years. Saddened by this, she was determined to find a way to help them.
