<p>When ready we arrange your exam. We have agreements with exam centres all over the UK. Our students also take advantage of preferential pricing due to the volume of students we channel to exam centres.</p>
<p>As part of your enrolment service package we will make all the arrangements for your final exam. This includes locating a centre and booking the relevant exam/s. <p>The AQA A-Level Philosophy exam is available in May/June each year. It is assessed over 2 exam papers:</p>

</ul><p>We generally ask that you book written exams at least 6 months in advance, however subjects that includes NEA (A-Level Eng Lit &amp; A-Level History), Practicals (A-Level Sciences), or Fieldwork (A-Level Geography) you are recommended to note the following deadlines for booking and give us at least 8 months booking notice.</p>
<p>Booking deadlines are 5-8 months prior to the exam date.</p>
<p>Booking your exam after the booking deadline will incur late fees (available for one month after deadline) and high late fees (available up until exam entry closure).</p></div>

We do however have students who will study intensively and prepare in a matter of weeks. You are only constrained by the exam diet. What is The SHARE Project?
The SHARE Project is built on a simple principle: you need to put your own oxygen mask on first!  By nurturing yourself, you’re better equipped to support your children. Through our four-week, live online workshop series, delivered via Zoom, you’ll discover practical tools to bring more calm and happiness into your daily life.
Here’s what you can expect:
Weekly Workshops:  Each week, we’ll introduce and practice a new tool designed to fit seamlessly into your life (just a few minutes a day, I promise!). These are not your typical “luxury spa day” suggestions — because let’s face it, who has time for that?  Instead, you’ll learn sustainable, go-to strategies that you can use anytime, anywhere, to boost your wellbeing, even in the midst of chaos.  You will also receive a mid-week email of encouragement between workshops and printables to help record and track your progress.
Ongoing Support:  In each session, we’ll review your progress, fine-tune your approach, and introduce the next tool.  This isn’t just a one-off workshop; it’s a journey of growth and connection.

<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Nicola Slee is a theologian, writer and spiritual director. Author of numerous books exploring feminist theology, liturgy and spirituality, and much more. Her academic posts are: Professorial Research Fellow at the Queen&#39;s Foundation, Professor of Feminist Practical Theology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam &amp; Visiting Professor at the University of Chester.</p><br fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">

Nicola will help us to explore how our language and imagery for God plays out in prayer and spirituality, taking into account feminist and other critiques of dominant patriarchal and hierarchical God language and imagery. The evening will include input from Nicola, use of prayer and poetry, conversation in small groups and interaction with the speaker. 

Nicola Slee is a theologian, writer, poet and spiritual director. 
Nicola has wide-ranging experience of adult education and has a particular interest in feminist theology, practical theology and the role of poetry and the arts in Christian education and life. She has written numerous books and articles, exploring feminist theology, liturgy, spirituality, and much more.

Laura is looking for a book you can&rsquo;t wait to talk to someone about, in the same way as a new film or the latest release on Netflix. A book that engrosses her from the first page to the last, desperate for someone she knows to read so they can discuss as soon as possible.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">It will always be an original hook that draws Laura in, a whole concept that can be summed up in one line that immediately stops her in my tracks and makes her think.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Character and voice is also crucial. Laura is a huge fan of Mick Herron&rsquo;s Jackson Lamb, Richard Osman&rsquo;s <em fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">Thursday Murder Club</em> cast and Lynda La Plante&rsquo;s Jane Tennison. She would really love to see more strong, memorable women in crime. In bookclub fiction, voices that have stayed with her are Adduni in <em fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">The Girl With The Louding Voice</em>, Cyril in <em fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">The Heart&rsquo;s Invisible Furies</em> and Molly in <em fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">The Maid</em>. Laura studied law at university and spent over 20 years at Virgin Atlantic which allowed her to indulge her passion for reading whilst travelling.
On deciding to pursue a career in publishing, Laura joined the Darley Anderson Agency where she worked across the Women’s Fiction list, reading submissions, handling contracts and supporting authors on their path to publication and beyond.
She co-founded Greenstone Literary with Tanera Simons in 2024 and is excited to build a list of authors.
Laura is looking for commercial crime, thriller, suspense, bookclub, historical and romance fiction as well as select non-fiction.
Above everything she wants to be entertained. Laura is looking for a book you can’t wait to talk to someone about, in the same way as a new film or the latest release on Netflix. A book that engrosses her from the first page to the last, desperate for someone she knows to read so they can discuss as soon as possible.
It will always be an original hook that draws Laura in, a whole concept that can be summed up in one line that immediately stops her in my tracks and makes her think.
Character and voice is also crucial. Laura is a huge fan of Mick Herron’s Jackson Lamb, Richard Osman’s Thursday Murder Club cast and Lynda La Plante’s Jane Tennison. She would really love to see more strong, memorable women in crime. In bookclub fiction, voices that have stayed with her are Adduni in The Girl With The Louding Voice, Cyril in The Heart’s Invisible Furies and Molly in The Maid. Recently, Kitty in How To Kill Men and Get Away With It had Laura secretly rooting for her serial killer antics.
Laura loves to be engrossed by a pacy, twisty, surprising plot. It doesn’t need to be overly complex – sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. She wants to be thrown curveballs she never saw coming and be kept guessing until the last page. Books Laura has devoured are Nightwatching, The Housemaid, The Last Mrs Parrish, Fourth Wing, None of This is True and American Dirt.
Books that play with genre also capture Laura. Novels such as Wrong Place, Wrong Time which combined a crime mystery and the story of a mother’s love with a speculative element and The Time Traveller’s Wife, a high-concept love story which crossed time and age.
Laura is a huge fan of true crime and would love to read a fiction version of podcasts she has been gripped by. She really enjoys cold cases being reopened as a result of new evidence or technology which exposes past injustices such as on Bone Valley, In The Dark or Who Killed Emma? She is particularly drawn to stories of deep deception or ‘scams’ such as those by Anna Delvey or Coco Berthmann, Tinder Swindler or Fyre Festival. Laura is always intrigued by anything involving investigation into cults, such as in BBC Sound’s World of Secrets.
She also loves nothing more than sobbing her heart out over a book and being left emotionally wrung-out! Whether it be a devastating historical tragedy or star-crossed lovers torn apart by destiny. Books that have broken her heart include The Bridges of Madison County, The Kite Runner, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Birdsong, My Sister’s Keeper, Cilka’s Journey and Four Winds.
In non-fiction, Laura is looking for an untold story or perspective or an unexplored area where you have expertise or real-life experience. M02 - Aspirated and Vacuated Systems:
Open systems (Syringe & Needle), closed systems (Vacutainer & Monovette), Alternative closed systems, Using Monovette - aspiration and evacuated techniques, monovette adapter systems.
M03 - Specialised and Advanced Phlebotomy Equipment:
The centrifuge - overview. Safe operation and use. Managing a centrifuge breakage or spillage.
Equipment and practices in unusual situations.
Patients with special needs and requiring specific attention.
Equipment preparation for blood samples that are collected at
0 degrees, 37 degrees C and other non-standard conditions.
A look at advances in technology and how to use the latest devices.
M04 - Point of Care Testing:
What is POC Testing? Advantages, Disadvantages and Clinical
Outcomes. Comparison of POC with lab testing. 10 common POC tests. Roles for phlebotomists performing POC Tests.
M05 - Neonates and Children:
Sample collection from new-born to pre-adult. A detailed overview of legal principles of law including child consent and child protection for phlebotomists. Neonatal and child blood collection equipment.
A comprehensive look at heel and finger-prick procedures including
microtainers, lancets and capillary tube collection. Detailed heel prick procedure. Paediatric finger prick collection. The life-threatening hazard of over-collecting. Communication techniques in differing age bands.
Consent and the law. Basic principles of lawful consent for neonates and paediatric patients. Child protection.
Detailed analysis of neonatal and paediatric blood collection including Guthrie card collection. Neonatal bottles - colours and tests. Paediatric blood gases collection.
Butterfly needles - when to use. Blood tests during pregnancy. Neonatal blood screening - nine conditions covered. Bilirubin in neonates.
M06 - Geriatric Patients:
The challenges of phlebotomy in older people. Understanding skin changes and venepuncture implications. A profile of common
geriatric blood tests. Age related problems. Procedural precautions.
M07 - Special Procedures:
Drawing blood from back of hand. Drawing blood from lower limb veins. Managing the unwilling or difficult patient. Managing the psychiatric patient. Managing the isolated patient. Non-routine blood tests. Managing the latex allergy patient (type 1 and type 4 reactions). Latex indicators. Sample handling - non-routine procedures. Drug trials and research projects.
M08 - Special Tests and Sample Handling Procedures:
A look at sample collection at specific times of day and night,
samples that are protected from light, collected on ice and
collected at body temperature. Procedures for each group - collection notes, analytic time, optimal collection time and notes for each group.
M09 - Advanced Phlebotomy Tasks:
Additional procedures. Maintaining POC equipment. Stock control and stock rotation. Quality control. Data entry. Product evaluation. Training and competency evaluation.
M10 - Alternative Environments:
A step-by-step look at non-clinical phlebotomy environments including private testing, DEFRA, forensic and police, cord blood collection, DNA analysis, veterinary services, overseas and volunteering.

1 - Welcome, introductions and overview:
- Classroom - health & safety briefing, schedule overview.
- Virtual Classroom - audio/visual checks and registration. Unpacking and overview of your training kit.
2 - Syringe and Needle (open system): Correct use and applications.
3 - Monovette (open and closed systems):
Using the Monovette system in aspiration mode - correct use and applications.
Using the Monovette system in evacuated mode - correct use and applications.
4 - IR Vein Detector:
Demonstration of the IR vein detector for assisting in detection of difficult veins.
5 - Veins in back of hand:
Detecting suitable veins in the back of the hand.
6 - POC testing:
Point of Care Testing - use of glucose meter to demonstrate a typical POC test procedure. Correct use and overview of other POC test devices.
7 - Using lancets (finger collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for POC testing and whole blood micro-collection.
8 - Using lancets (heel collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for neonatal blood spot tests (Guthrie Test).
9 - Capillary collection
Using glass capillary tubes for micro-collection. Correct use and handling.
10 - Microtube collection
Correct use of BD Microtainers (and similar micro-collection bottles) - collection and handling.
