We are a group of teachers, musicians and technologists who specialise in composition, improvisation and performance using iPads. Ben Sellers and Travis Snyder began running music workshops with iPads in a Hackney community centre in 2011, developing an approach that combined outstanding musical outcomes with implicit development of musicianship and theory. They transferred this approach to both formal mainstream and SEND/ALN contexts, codifying their methods into what became the 2014 textbook ‘Teaching Music with Garageband for iPad’, and a popular teacher training scheme. In 2016, Travis returned to California to become the head of Assistive Technology for the San Francisco District School Board. 2017 saw the publication of several new resources, including a second edition of the Garageband textbook and an increased focus on training partnerships with Music Education Hubs. Since 2018 we have gained an increasingly strong reputation as SEND/ALN specialists, working with MEHs up and down the country to improve provision through co-delivery and bespoke training and resources, including a complete ‘SEN/D Curriculum’ with Leicester-Shire Music Service, and a set of projects for the Charanga education platform. We were nominated twice in the 2019 ‘Music Teacher Awards for Excellence’. Though our reputation has grown, we remain a small and focussed team, working hard to develop in young people the skill, desire and drive to use music to enhance their lives.

In order to develop aspirations and accelerate skills, additional levels of engagement are needed. Activities feel as if they happen to students rather than with students and for students. Students are a ‘person'... not just 'stats and numbers'. We believe we are not resonating closely enough with students. It's about more than this year's recruitment or next year's jobs. Its about a long-term, strategic sustainable pipeline of inspired individuals who will inspire the next generation.

We are an OFSTED regulated Nursery and Primary School. We deliver the EYFS (Early Learning Foundation Stage) and the basic understanding of an Islamic curriculum to your child. Here at Darul Madinah we actively promote working together with the parents/carers of the children within our care. You are the most important people in your child's life and only by working together can we ensure that your children will achieve and develop to their full potential whilst having lots of fun and adventures during their time with us. Our provision is for 2 - 4 year olds and presently we can cater for up to a total of 68 children. We provide two different sessions where the parents can choose the most appropriate time for their child. Dr. Erica Colón is a National Board Certified Teacher with over twelve years of teaching experience in 6th-12th grade secondary science, including Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, and Marine Science. In 2008 Erica earned her Master’s in Educational Administration, but quickly realized her passion was working with science teachers. Erica returned to earn her Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction in 2011, and through one of life’s unexpected turns, she founded Nitty Gritty Science, LLC and has reached tens of thousands of science teachers all around the globe! In 2020, a global pandemic changed the course of history, quickly changing our daily lives in all aspects, and in the scope of education it changed how teachers taught and how students learned. Everywhere educators faced pandemic-driven remote learning that they had to navigate on their own, practically overnight.
