Who We Are & Where We Are High Peak School is part of the Kedleston Group and opened in 2014.Our specialist multi-disciplinary team of leaders, carers, therapists and educationalists work seamlessly together. They teach and proactively support pupils who have been subjected to adverse childhood experiences, including trauma, toxic stress and associated mental wellbeing difficulties, aiming to break the cycle of adversity. Children and young people may also come to us because they are challenged by attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyslexia, and dyspraxia or moderate and specific learning difficulties. We have a specific provision within the school called the Quiet Learning Zone where we support children and young people who have an autistic spectrum condition including Asperger’s syndrome and those who have communication and sensory difficulties. The environment and teaching approaches are bespoke and tailored to ensure our children and young people thrive and can develop their self-esteem. We have extensive experience of supporting those with attachment disorders or those who have been victims of abuse and neglect. We actively encourage the development of life skills such as staying safe, acting responsibly and being respectful whether that be at school, at home or in the local community. From our beautiful rural location in Cheshire, we offer a unique setting having been converted from a hotel to create innovative and inspiring learning, social, recreational and living spaces.

My lovely mum sent me to a yoga class in my late teens. She planted a seed and the seed grew. Having practised yoga since 1993 and taught since 1999, I have an understanding of how yoga and healing are fundamentally the same. Curing is what mainstream or complimentary medicine may or may not do. Healing is what happens after the Doctors, medicine, surgery and technology have finished. Healing comes from within. I have been through many life experiences including illness, surgery, bereavement, divorce, loss of job, loss of income and bringing up two lovely daughters now in their twenties. Yoga has given me inner strength at times of stress and difficulty for which I am grateful. This has taught me to take life's ups and downs as periods of growth and change. As a teacher I offer my experience of yoga to help explore the possibilities for you. I have contracts to teach yoga to employees of several large Blue Chip Corporations. I currently teach group classes each week in Bristol, as well as private one to one sessions. The breath is the heart of yoga practise. Breathing affects every cell of our being. It brings vital energy into the body. As we learn to watch our breath we let go of old patterns and new energy flows creating new possibilities.

Kathy King is a Science and Psychology specialist who has worked with a variety of vulnerable groups including young people with special educational needs, including social, emotional and behavioural problems, and the homeless. She is passionate about showing others the power of being active in nature and using outdoor activities as a tool to improve wellbeing. Her research has proven that participation in a 6-week Forest School programme can increase attendance and reduce exclusion rates from mainstream school. Applying the fundamentals of the holistic Forest School approach in all that she does, Kathy believes this can create positive changes in behaviour. Kathy made a life-changing decision to leave teaching and enrol on an outdoor instructor programme after experiencing high levels of work-related stress and anxiety. The 2-day a week course provided an opportunity to master new skills and focus on what she considered to be most important in life. It was on the water that the idea for the Wild Camp Training Programme was born. This is a project aimed at young women who are currently out of education, employment and/or training (N.E.E.T) and is designed to empower and increase physical and mental health. Since then, the charity has evolved to deliver after school clubs, forest school sessions, holiday clubs, 1-1 outdoor activity sessions and group days out.

Mitch has personally worked with thousands of athletes throughout his career. His clients not only have won world series rings, played in the NFL and MLS, and competed in the Olympics, but they have achieved great personal success in local competitive events and leagues. His clientele has ranged from 6 to 54 years old. In addition to being the founder and President of MTS, Mitch serves as the Prevention, Rehab, and Physical Performance Coordinator for 17 sports, as well as the strength and conditioning coach for Women’s basketball and Volleyball at Missouri State University. At MSU, he utilizes his knowledge of performance enhancement and sports medicine to coordinate the rehab and injury prevention programs for all varsity sports while simultaneously improving the athletic performance for the Lady Bear teams. His areas of interest included functional movement and biomechanics, high speed treadmill training, and metabolics. Like thousands of parents across the UK, mother of three, ReedahEl-Saiewas frustrated with an antiquated education system originally designed post industrial revolution to prepare children for factory work. She had witnessed how exams and revision had caused her children stress and anxiety, resulting in them losing their love of learning. As a family of diverse heritage Reedahalso hoped for a more inclusive curriculum both in terms of content and delivery. In winter 2018, whilst preparing her son for 11+, Reedah came across Fortnite which her sons during revision breaks. She noticed how the 3D open world, multi-player, action game appealed to children across the world. She imagined 3D open world, educational game, including diverse characters and stories, fully aligned with the UK national curriculum and entrance exams, enabling learning through play. After extensive but fruitless research for a pre-existing educational mobile games app aligned with the UK national curriculum, Reedahfounded BrainsparkGames (previosulyXplorealms). Her vision was to create a 3D open world, celebrating diverse characters, using awesome immersive technology to engage wider audiences as well as BAME, vulnerable and neurodiverse. She researched the twenty-first century skills movement and flip schools and held workshops and interviewed children, parents and teachers to ensure a user-led product. Brainsparkwas founded in in November 2019 and is on a mission to revolutionise the way children learn in every corner of the world!
