The Urbed Trust

Urbed (Urbanism, Environment and Design) Ltd to close-Urbed Trust unaffected It is with great sadness that we announce that our partner organisation Urbed (Urbanism, Environment and Design) Ltd will close early in 2023. The employee-owned cooperative finds itself with no option, following the completion of several projects and operating in an incredibly difficult post COVID environment, particularly with public sector tendering. Urbed (Urbanism, Environment and Design) Ltd formed in 2006, and grew out of the original Urbed (Urban and Economic Development) Ltd from 1976. It is one of the last surviving members of a group of consultancies that pioneered the process of urban regeneration in the 1970s and 80s. Since that time Urbed have undertaken ground-breaking work on the reuse of industrial heritage, managed workspace, town centres, sustainable urbanism, domestic retrofit, urban design and coding. Their closure will not affect ourselves at the Urbed Trust. We are a separate not for profit company run by Urbed’s 1976 original founding director Dr Nicholas Falk. We will continue our work on smarter urbanisation and sustainable housing in both the UK and India. Who are the URBED Trust? The URBED Trust is a not for profit company with charitable aims set up to promote research into the future of urban areas, and to disseminate best practice. The trust was reconstituted after Nicholas Falk and David Rudlin won the 2014 Wolfson Economics Prize for showing how to build new Garden Cities that are visionary, viable and popular. A group of expert board members are overseeing different projects, in partnership with other public bodies.

Global Conversion

This company was founded by us in 2022. It is based on the idea of creating an opportunity for therapists from the US, UK, and Europe to combine their efforts to create such a form of communication and interaction between residents of different countries who can if necessary, immediately concentrate on their professional and organizational efforts to most effectively provide assistance to a patient from any points of the globe. Most of us are especially disposed to face the challenges of the consequences of globalization, such as the development of new communication technologies, transport, labor migration, the displacement of huge masses of the dispossessed population around the globe, the clash of different ethnic and civilizational cultures, the occurrence of natural and technological disasters, epidemics and pandemics, the devastating effects of wars and social strife. However, these events are more often the reason for the exacerbation of previously existing, but dormant for the time being, individual mental problems. Their pattern is undergoing changes, sometimes encrypting the cause of the disease beyond recognition. And here there is a special need for team interaction when the factor of timeliness and adequacy of assistance are combined and put forward very stringent requirements. Our company will help you if: – you don’t know who to turn to for help – you need a professional opinion or recommendation – you need urgent help due to your mental condition – you are in difficult life circumstances and you need professional help from a consultant or psychotherapist As well as other mental problems.

Centre Academy

centre academy

A leading educator has called the Centre Academy Schools (London and East Anglia) “the most successful special needs schools in the UK and, indeed, the most unique.” Here’s why: We accept a broad range of ages, boys and girls, from 7-19 (9-19 in London). This eliminates the anxiety, common to SEN students, of having to move from school to school to school. Research has repeatedly shown that for an SEN student, moving school is a tremendously daunting experience. We address an equally broad range of learning challenges on a case-by-case basis: ASD, AD/HD, Dyslexia, Speech and Language needs, Anxiety to name but a few. Such breadth and versatility is essential, as most SEN students face more than one learning challenge—and Anxiety is common to almost all. We group not by age or by year group but rather by ability and level of preparedness. Research repeatedly shows that SEN students accomplish best when they work with peers who are working at approximately the same level. We keep our schools small, approximately 50 at London and 60 at East Anglia. This ensures that our class sizes are small (usually between 4-8 students) and that learning will be individualised. At the CA schools, one size does not fit all. All our teachers are highly experienced and all have significant expertise in teaching SEN students. We do not increase our student to staff ratio through use of learning support assistants. When our children leave Centre Academy, the do so with Outcomes: they have earned appropriate qualifications and they know exactly

I am self-taught ceramic sculptor. My passion for painting and sculpture began as a young child and is still my main obsession in life, a means of expression, my therapy, my greatest love. I add a quirky, sometimes humourus twist to my female forms and my animal sculptures. I work from my imagination preferring to avoid realism at all costs! My work is hand built useing coiling or slabbing techniques. After fireing my pieces are finished using crackle glaze, underglaze or stains which are wiped back to emphasise textures. I use grogged earthenware and stoneware handbuilding clay. I sometimes paint fantasy designs with acrylics and also teach in my home studio in Worcester. I am living my dream. My work has been exhibited in UK galleries including Guildford House, Birmingham, Bowes Museum, Gloucester, Wolverhampton, Worcester and many more. I also exhibit my sculptures at the annual Showborough House sculpture exhibition, Twyning, Tewkesbury. I have worked with different media over the years in the wedding industry making wacky bride and groom wedding sculptures. I was commissioned by the BBC to surprising chef Ainsley Harriott, with a caricature of himself on the TV show Ready, Steady, Cook. I have also discussed my huge, wacky sculptures on TV whilst exhibiting them in Bowes Museum, County Durham. A big thrill for me was being commissioned to create small sculptures to be photographed for the front cover of Vogue Italia. Another TV commission was lool a like clay figures for celebrities Matt and Emma Willis. I sculpted a large chocolate wedding centrepiece for actor/singer Gareth Gates.
