One of the major risks in the performance of your construction contracts is the risk of being late. Failure to correctly assess how long the job will take, not only means your Preliminary and General costs may be far in excess of what can be claimed; it also exposes your company to the substantial risk of Liquidated Damages. The risk lies solely with you, the Contractor, since it is you, by way of your Tender Programme, that advises the client how long the project will take to build. This in turn becomes the yardstick by which your performance is measured. Failure to programme the works correctly, means that the contract period is often no more than an optimistic guess. You would never guess at how much a job is going to cost, why would you guess at how long it’s going to take, or how many people are required to build it? Especially when there could be major damages at stake for late delivery. We can help. We can create a fully optimised, comprehensively scheduled programme that ensures all works are fully planned and resourced to maximise efficiency and reduce your risk of failure to hit key contract dates. Contracts as a matter of course also encounter unexpected events and changes in scope. These often impact the original planned execution of the project and create changes to the build timing and methodology. A correctly designed and executed programme greatly enhances your management team’s effectiveness and efficiency in controlling the project and such events. The programme provides them with the dynamic tools they need to immediately map out and illustrate the effects of any changes and ensures that they can make educated and informed critical decisions. It also provides the essential proof of impact, required to support successful claims for extensions of time.

As Chair of Governors at Blythe Bridge High School & Sixth Form, I would like to extend a warm welcome to those of you visiting our website. The governing body is involved with school life at many levels, ranging from ensuring that support functions (finance, premises management, health & safety) are completely aligned with the strategic vision of the school from a quality of education perspective, to sharing in the successes of the many talented students through Governor Awards and community events. I am incredibly grateful to my fellow governors for voluntarily devoting so much of their time and effort to the school community. Our governing body comprises elected representatives from the local authority, staff, parents and members of the community and the combined experience, skills and knowledge is vast. The job description for governors is clear, set the strategic direction of the school, hold school leaders to account for improvement and ensuring that the school budget is spent appropriately. As such, much of our time is spent working with Mrs Johnson and the senior leadership team to continually review and refine the quality of our provision through our subcommittee meetings. If you are reading this as a prospective parent, I encourage you to spend time to look through our website, the weekly newsletters and at our pages on social media platforms, our core values of pride, respect and kindness permeate every page or post. If you are reading this with an interest in becoming a school governor, please email the clerk to governors, Mrs Mitton, n.mitton@bb-hs.co.uk to arrange an informal conversation. We are so proud of our school and would welcome the opportunity to show you around and talk to you about the role of governors at BBHS. Finally, if you are reading this as any other key stakeholder, thank you for taking an interest.

COACHINGI am originally from Glasgow in Scotland. I returned to live in Scotland in June 2019, after 30 years of living in England, the Netherlands and Belgium. I am now based approximately 40 miles south of Glasgow in the beautiful countryside of the Southern Uplands. I have experienced much in my lifetime. A corporate career of 36 years from trolley assistant in a supermarket to a board level appointment with EMEA responsibility for a Fortune 500 organisation to a complete career change in my mid-fifties and finding my purpose in life through my coaching business. That journey brought two marriages and divorces, multiple redundancies, a Masters degree at the age of 40, and the opportunity to live and work in 3 European Countries. The highs and lows of the road I’ve travelled have taken me from the darkest places of struggle and challenge to a life of fulfilment and big dreams I am still going to manifest. I am hungry to understand how what makes us do what we do in living this gift we have of LIFE. I have learned over these years, that life happens for you and not to you. My passion is helping people like you who are looking to live their best possible life. A life without limits, and unlimited possibilities. A life where you remove the limits find fulfilment in their life. A life of growth and contribution. If you are into details and numbers, my experience comes from a lifetime of growth, learning, mistakes, and a 36-year corporate management career. In my coaching career from over 4000 client sessions, 600+ hours of ongoing paid training and learning from the best thought leaders in Coaching, Therapy & Personal Development world.

Salt South West

salt south west

Plymouth, Devon

SALT South West is a Plymouth-based Christian voluntary organisation ( known as SAIFLINE until 2006), offering direct help to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. SALT is a member agency of The Survivors’ Trust and our Co-ordinator is a member of TAG (Trauma and Abuse Group). We are accountable to our Management Committee of five and have a Council of Reference which includes an MP, a Bishop, another Minister of Religion and a media presenter. We are currently a team of ten members, two of whom are counselling students and three of whom are currently paid part-time (Team Coordinator, Assistant Coordinator and Administrator). Our volunteer listeners have all undertaken the in-house SALT training, some have various counselling qualifications including specific sexual abuse/trauma related subjects. Some members of our team are survivors and bring with them personal experience and knowledge. Supervision is fundamental to our work and each listener receives a minimum of one and a half hours every four weeks. We are a close team and there is always the opportunity to share and offload inbetween when necessary. (Which is often the case in our field of work). Our Annual Away Day gives us a chance to meet outside of work to share, explore and be refreshed as people, not just as co-workers. Behind the scenes, our 60 prayer partners have the important role of supporting us and we meet together once a year. SALT works with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, age 16 and above. Everyone is received by us regardless of background, belief or behaviour. Our services are free of charge but donations are always welcomed. We do not want anyone to be excluded from receiving good quality psychological help.

apse - association for public service excellance

Manchester

The Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) is a networking community that assists local authorities who are striving to improve their frontline services. APSE works with more than 250 local authorities across the UK to advise and share information and expertise on a broad range of frontline public services. These councils are supported by a team of experts, who draw upon a wealth of knowledge in areas such as policy and practice, as well as in vital frontline service areas. Members of APSE have access to many excellent benefits that help local authorities to grow. These include regular briefings on the latest policy developments and operational issues, access to groups and forums that allow authorities to come together to share information and collaborate, and the ability to anonymously ask for - and give - advice on a range of service issues. One of the most important benefits APSE membership offers is the opportunity for local authority service providers to have their views voiced and represented at a national level. APSE carefully develops this voice by collaborating with members, and supports it using research, extensive campaigns and consistent media activities. APSE conducts research, publishes reports, and campaigns to create a positive role for local government, helping them to deliver high quality, effective and efficient public services. APSE's targeted training programme, regular briefings and inclusive events strive to keep council officers and elected members constantly updated on the latest public service issues. There is also APSE Solutions, an in-house team that works closely with individual authorities, offering high quality consultancy and interim management support for members and other relevant organisations. APSE has also developed the innovative Performance Networks service, which is the largest national voluntary local government benchmarking service. APSE is here to help local authorities and endeavours to do everything possible to help them achieve excellence in their frontline service
