King Johns House & Heritage Centre

king johns house & heritage centre

What we now know as King John’s House and the adjoining Tudor Cottage were once a small part of Church Court in Romsey and are Church Court’s only surviving buildings. By the turn of the 19th and 20th century, the Court had been reduced to little more than a densely populated slum housing among the most impoverished of Romsey’s residents. At this time you would find no mention of King John’s House on any map or in any book as it was just a run-down building in a run-down part of Romsey. In modern times we know that the House was once a very high status building and part of a major medieval complex although its exact purpose is not completely understood. You can see many early features dating from this time, including fine stone masonry, ancient roof timbers and graffiti cut into medieval plaster. The Museum features aspects of Romsey life during the Victorian and Edwardian period. The 'old gun shop' has been reconstructed upstairs, using original fixtures, fittings and display items, while William Moody and his sister wait to greet you in the recreated parlour in the room behind. When you visit the House and Museum you can discover how and when King John became associated with the House, how it descended from high status medieval building to slum over 800 year of continuous occupation and use and why the Moody family are so important to the history of King John’s House. King John’s House and Museum are in the custodianship of a registered charity, dedicated to preserving King John’s House for future generations. Donations in support of this work are always appreciated. The charity is kindly supported by Test Valley Borough Council who work in partnership to share this important heritage property TripAdvisor

Yapton Free Church

West Wittering

Yapton Free Church is an all age community living in a revelation of who God is and what his Son did on the Cross. We are located in the six villages area of West Sussex, with a heart for this area and for the nation of England. There is always something going on at Yapton Free Church: prayer, kids, youth, etc and many international adventures. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us. Our Vision We desire to be a church that seeks to worship God the Father through Jesus Christ the Son, by the power of the Holy Spirit, seeking to know him better through worship, praise, prayer, and the word. We desire to fulfil Luke 10:27, to: "Love the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our strength and with all our mind" and "Love our neighbours as our self." We recognise that there is only one true church consisting of all born again believers - regardless of denomination - and we seek to work and pray with other local, national and international Christians and churches. We are here as a body of believers to fulfill our part in the Great Commission with local, national and international evangelism - "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you". Matthew 28:19-20. We desire to be a church praying and preparing for world revival recognising that: The Bible is crucial to our personal growth: "All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17

We are ambitious in our goals and the way in which we help those affected by domestic abuse. To tackle the root cause of domestic abuse we work directly with individuals who are being abusive. We make it our mission and our focus to identify the complexities behind violent, coercive and controlling behaviour to end the cycle of domestic abuse and reduce repeat victimisation. Too often the value of a perpetrator led approach is overlooked in favour of victim services due to the lack of evidence and lack of funding. Our decades of experience working with perpetrators, and subsequent results, has reinforced the belief that people can change. We have access to, and intelligence on, perpetrators outside of criminal justice that no other agencies have, enabling us to measure success rates as well being the first to intervene to ensure victim safety. We know that responding to domestic abuse is a challenge across all frontline services and we can’t do this alone. We work with a range of stakeholders across the voluntary and statutory sector to deliver what we know works. We are fortunate to have excellent partnerships with those sharing our passion to make a difference, no matter how hard it seems. We strongly believe the current criminal justice response to offenders needs reviewing. If we are to address the vulnerabilities associated with offending , and ultimately reduce offence rates, it requires a significant shake up. To that end we are not afraid to test new approaches evident in our innovative criminal justice interventions and the programmes we offer young adult offenders to consider their choices. We are currently exploring a trauma informed response to working with females in the criminal justice system.

We believe we can collectively change the music industry for the better – helping to bring about a fairer, more diverse, better educated… musically more exciting future! Higher education should have value for life and we hope your studies at LCCM will be a time of creative and cultural experimentation as well as personal development. We want to help you develop lifelong skills in communication, creative expression, collaboration and cultural understanding as well as furthering your talent, passions and personal ambitions. We believe in the Schopenhauer principle that music is the pinnacle of the arts and so at its best can be considered the highest form of human expression. So be true to yourself, whether you are an artist, entrepreneur or future executive. Be original and inventive. Your ideas and talent, if you work hard, can help bring about this exciting future. To deliver this vision we commit, wherever possible to teach: In small groups with students being supported by one-to-one tutorials With current insight from top industry professionals In a friendly, creative environment With access to industry-standard facilities and resources To the highest of academic standards With students focusing on how to collaborate and communicate effectively With exceptional skills embedded into the curriculum to ensure work-readiness for all sectors after graduation We’ve been doing this since 2002, when our founders, all professional musicians themselves, decided to launch a new college for contemporary popular music in the centre of London. The aim was to create a new approach to teaching music that mixed the best of the good universities and conservatories with an art school environment. The course that emerged embedded production with performance, establishing LCCM as the first music college where all students had to master both performance and production; a development that was increasingly evident in the music industry.
