Llanthony Secunda Priory in Gloucester is the remains of a once large and important Augustinian Priory which was founded outside the city walls in 1136. It is a scheduled monument with listed buildings that has played an important part in Gloucester’s history for over 900 years. Our Re-formation Project is bringing Llanthony back to life. The two main buildings dating from the 15th century have been restored and conserved and are now back in daily use. The grounds have been landscaped with new paths, benches, trees and planting and will include an example of a medieval courtyard garden. Special events and projects over the next few years will establish Llanthony Secunda Priory as a heritage attraction and cultural venue. The Priory, one of several religious foundations in Gloucester, existed for 400 years. It owned properties and land both in Gloucester and the surrounding counties – as far afield as Ireland – churches, farms, fish weirs, quarries and manor houses. Emma Decent is based in the north west of England and has been writing and performing for over 15 years. Emma’s latest project is I Don’t Know What I’m Supposed To Be Doing, a new autobiographical show about herself and her mother. Her first solo show was Beyond Dreams of Aberystwyth was developed in 2013 with support from the Arts Council of England. The Show toured since 2013 and the story also unfolds as an Online Book which you can read in full as 20 Chapters on this website. Emma’s Poetry & Spoken Word includes raw, funny and vibrant performance poetry and prose. She has appeared at open mics all over the country and been guest poet at events in Manchester, Preston, Wakefield and beyond. She was chuffed to have her first ever slam win at the famous Uptown Poetry Slam at the Green Mill, Chicago in 2010. In Spring 2014 Emma qualified in Preparing to Teach in the Life-Long Learning Sector. She delivers workshops in performance and creative life-writing to accompany her shows where she encourages others to tell their stories. Garforth Academy mainly serves the community of Garforth with some pupils travelling further to school from communities such as Micklefield, Kippax, Colton, Whitkirk, Swillington, Aberford and Crossgates. Whilst the majority of pupils live within walking distance we do have a broad intake of primary schools with current year 7 pupils coming from 27 primary schools. The Key Stage 2 APS on entry is broadly in line with national average but some year groups are slightly below national average on entry. The academy is larger than average, and has around 300 pupils per year group in Key Stages Three and Four with a large 6th form in excess of 400 pupils. We serve a diverse community and whilst a large proportion of pupils come from affluent backgrounds, some pupils live in areas containing pockets of deprivation, characterised by high unemployment, an inadequate employment base, low average income levels, poor physical and mental health and a degraded urban environment. It is therefore important that our curriculum meets needs the needs of all learners from a wide range of backgrounds. The proportion of disadvantaged pupils is below the national average (16% v 29%) as is the number currently in receipt of Free School Meals (7% v 12%). Pupils within the academy are mainly White British, with only 2.7% of pupils having EAL. The number of pupils with an EHCP is 1.3%, and a small number of pupils requiring behavioural and emotional support attend The Elland Academy in Leeds, which is a registered Alternative Provision within Delta Academies Trust. We serve our local community and work closely with partners to plan a set of learning experiences that meet the needs of our pupils. In addition, we use local, national and international labour market intelligence to plan courses to best prepare our young people for life beyond school. We have the highest standards and expectations for all pupils and we strive to provide a curriculum that respects the needs of all pupils as well as one that encourages young people to seek continuous development and improvement.

Sholfins Swim School CIC is a not-for-profit company born from a passion and love for swimming. We are extremely passionate about our community. Our aim is to try and remove as many barriers as possible, preventing our community of Redditch from learning to swim. The team at Sholfins recognise that due to the pandemic there has been a huge impact on children having access to water in their early years. A number of primary/middle schools have also been unable to provide this life skill to their pupils prior to the pandemic for several different reasons, therefore, falling short of the national curriculum requirements, through no fault of their own. Swimming and water safety has been a statutory element of the national curriculum for physical education in England since 1994. This means that every 11-year-old child should leave primary/middle school with the skills to keep themselves safe. Swimming lessons provide all children with vital skills to help with survival and this is no different for children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND). By 2025, over 780,000 children with SEND will be in the education system. However, inequalities in the ability of schools and teachers to offer high quality opportunities for them to participate in PE, School Sport or Physical Activity still exist, with disabled young people twice as likely to be physically inactive as non-disabled people. The focus on the new revised Ofsted inspection framework is also an area of consideration for schools to bare in mind. At Sholfins we believe everyone should have the opportunity to learn to swim. All of our instructors are Level 2, Swim England qualified and have RLSS Lifeguard, First Aid and Safeguarding Qualifications. The team are passionate about teaching and ensure that each child is given the support and encouragement to become water confident no matter what age. We are registered with Swim England and follow the learn to swim programme and the School Swimming and Water Safety charter.

Since 2010, the Software Sustainability Institute has facilitated the advancement of software in research by cultivating better, more sustainable, research software to enable world-class research (“Better software, better research”). In 2018, we were awarded funding from all seven research councils. Our mission is to become the world-leading hub for research software practice. The Institute is based at the Universities of Edinburgh, Manchester, Oxford and Southampton, and draws on a team of experts with a breadth of experience in software development, training, project and programme management, research facilitation, publicity and community engagement. A very warm welcome to Tudor Grange Academy Kingshurst. We are a large academy serving a large community of students in year seven to year thirteen and it is my privilege to introduce myself as the new Principal. I joined Tudor Grange Academies Trust in 2015 as College Leader at Tudor Grange Academy Redditch. Since then, I have worked across multiple Tudor Grange sites in a school improvement guise. The Trust, as at September 2021, is a Trust of twelve schools: five secondary, one all through academy and five primary academies. The core vision of the Trust is to develop a Multi Academy Trust of four self-sufficient geographical hubs: Solihull, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and the East Midlands. I have been working with, and at Tudor Grange Academy Kingshurst, since 2017 as part of the senior team here and have led, alongside the whole staff body the school improvement journey.
