My name is Francesca. The following bio may offer some more background on why I work the way I do. I grew up in Italy, but I spent half of my life outside my country of origin. This brought me face to face with the challenges of finding a sense of belonging and home elsewhere. This makes me particularly attuned to cross-cultural dynamics, multi-lingual living and the struggles of understanding who we are in this new reality. My early studies (a degree in International Relationships and Peace Studies) helped me understand human distress from the perspective of power dynamics and systemic oppression, hence why my framework of reference is systemic. A decade later, when I retrained as a counsellor, I combined my earlier studies and previous work experience in the third sector (ranging from supporting victims of human trafficking and refugees to the homeless) to find voluntary and subsequently paid work within a counselling service for people who use substances and are involved with the criminal justice system. Through my time at this counselling service, I understood trauma from a systemic point of view and learned to convey safety and support clients to find it in their life and within themselves. I am now a senior counsellor for a local charity for alcohol use. Since 2017, I’ve volunteered as a counsellor for the therapeutic community Time and Space, supporting people who hear voices, dissociate, and self-harm. My experience here has taught me how to look beyond the labels, centre the person in the work we do together and trust, no matter what, that the person knows best what works for them in their healing journey. Alongside this, over the years, I have nurtured a deep connection with nature, which kinship brought me a sense of connection, dignity and respect that I now extend to the other-than-human beings and world, too (hence why I have embraced a vegan lifestyle).

I have always been interested in communication and languages, so I gained my initial degree in teaching Hungarian language and literature both to native speakers and as a foreign language. I have taught in different countries – in Hungary, Serbia and Switzerland – committed to continuous learning and development. However besides language acquisition I am also interested in brain and personality development so I have specialized in UK in Early Years Development. I grew up with my mums much younger sister who was diagnosed with autism, so I always had a loving heart for children and people living with special needs… Whilst studying neuro diversity I discovered that I was a child with all symptoms of ADHD… and at some point I had to realise that it never went away… I still do have it… I have started reading and taking notes about it, and now i can claim with confidence that I know this type of condition inside out… I have worked in nurseries as an Early Years Teacher and later as a nursery Manager. After studying at the Metropolitan University and gaining the Diploma in Teaching Adult Learners I have taught Early Years Childcare to Practitioners as a Tutor/Assessor in wide variety of settings in London. Apart from creating a relaxed and joyful environment where active learning can take place, I am passionate to help and motivate people in every possible way, so I have also studied a variety of Holistic Coaching and Healing methods as well as Event Management. I have participated in the organization of international festivals, several exhibitions, artisan fares, fashion shows and holistic healing days. During the lock down I was approached by many parents who asked me for help with variety of issues. I have decided to organise the Happy Parent = Happy Child Online Conference and have gathered over 30 professionals to support families, children and parents.

My journey started many years ago when I suffered with severe IBS, inflamed acne, fatigue and very poor immune function. I was sick all the time, not knowing what was causing my issues. It left me with anxiety and I realised something needed to change. After a lot of personal research and the support from an amazing nutritional therapist, I found something that worked for me. I discovered I was deficient in so many nutrients and needed to eliminate, and introduce certain foods to help me heal naturally. This is when I realised the power and the healing benefits of eating well. Food really is medicine! Once I started to heal I really wanted to share my knowledge with others. If I could feel better, then I wanted other people to feel better too. So, I left my career in design to work in the natural health industry to learn more. This is when I started to run workshops to teach people how to make healthy and nutritious food. My main mission was, and still is, to help others and to give them the tools they need to improve their health. Today, after studying to become a Nutrition Coach, I can now help others on a greater scale. I absolutely love what I do. I know I had to go through my own struggle to be where I am today and I am grateful for the journey. I am still on this journey and I am always learning and listening to my body now. I love food and I love cooking with different types of foods. I have been introduced to whole new flavours and tastes. I have fun in the kitchen and like to throw things together. I am quite impatient, so cooking is usually less than 30 mins if possible. I also have a love for chocolate, so I am always coming up with new ways to satisfy my cravings. Founded in 1931, the Yorkshire and Humberside Federation of Museums and Galleries was one of the first regional federations to be established. It is the only dedicated membership organisation for people working in or for the benefit of Museums and Galleries in the region. It exists to represent, support and develop its members through regular meetings, newsletters, training, consultation and lobbying. How We Work The Fed is a membership organisation run by you, for you! The Fed is administered by an Executive Committee made up from its membership, and elected by you, the members, at the AGM. The Executive Committee reports back to the membership via quarterly meetings, which are open to all. The Fed is only as active as its members. The Committee is open to all and we are very keen for members to express an interest in joining the Committee to keep a flow of new ideas coursing through the organisation!
