The Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) is a networking community that assists local authorities who are striving to improve their frontline services. APSE works with more than 250 local authorities across the UK to advise and share information and expertise on a broad range of frontline public services. These councils are supported by a team of experts, who draw upon a wealth of knowledge in areas such as policy and practice, as well as in vital frontline service areas. Members of APSE have access to many excellent benefits that help local authorities to grow. These include regular briefings on the latest policy developments and operational issues, access to groups and forums that allow authorities to come together to share information and collaborate, and the ability to anonymously ask for - and give - advice on a range of service issues. Football DNA was started in 2018 by football professionals Stewart England & Jimmy Walker with the ambition to support football coaches and players with an outstanding platform for them to access. Stewart & Jimmy are obsessed with football and helping develop all ages and levels throughout the beautiful game. At the they highlighted that many coaches struggled to plan and develop their own football coaching practices and sessions. Being involved in the professional game and drawing upon personal experiences they started to create and build a library of video coaching content that could really benefit coaches at all levels of the game. The platform gives coaches access to hundreds of coaching practices and full sessions on video that are perfect for grassroots football coaching and up to the elite levels of the game from U5 – Adults. Not only do coaches get unlimited access to the existing library, brand new content is added each week to help keeping coaching sessions fresh and exciting. The practices and sessions have been created and developed by a range of top quality professional coaches working at the highest levels of the game from first team to academy age groups. Our range of coaches include Celtic FC 1st Team Coach Gavin Strachan, Crystal Palace 1st Team Coach Shaun Derry, West Ham Academy Coach Ross Brooks. From this initial idea, the Football DNA platform expanded to providing content for players to develop their skills using the Individual Skills Program. The ISP is an interactive learning tool for players to challenge themselves and progress through different skill levels in their own environment. Adding to this are specialist sport science and nutrition areas. Players can access gym programs and pitch-based sessions from top level coaches involved in the professional game.

On becoming an independent social enterprise, we went on to deliver large-scale neighbourhood regeneration programmes like the Single Regeneration Budget, New Deal for Communities and Neighbourhood Renewal Funding. In 2011 Renaisi was part of the consortium that set up the Big Local programme. Our role managing the ‘reps’ took us beyond London and allowed us to bring together the two halves of our expertise; supporting communities and social research. Alongside that national work we delivered services in Islington, Haringey and Hackney that helped migrant communities get the most out of the local school system. While the policy and funding landscape has changed a lot in the last 20+ years, ‘place’ has remained the lens we use to consider our work. We’re constantly learning from the different perspectives we see from working directly with communities, with the providers of services and the investors in communities. It gives us a unique perspective on how systems work and how to improve places fairly.

As Chair of Governors at Blythe Bridge High School & Sixth Form, I would like to extend a warm welcome to those of you visiting our website. The governing body is involved with school life at many levels, ranging from ensuring that support functions (finance, premises management, health & safety) are completely aligned with the strategic vision of the school from a quality of education perspective, to sharing in the successes of the many talented students through Governor Awards and community events. I am incredibly grateful to my fellow governors for voluntarily devoting so much of their time and effort to the school community. Our governing body comprises elected representatives from the local authority, staff, parents and members of the community and the combined experience, skills and knowledge is vast. The job description for governors is clear, set the strategic direction of the school, hold school leaders to account for improvement and ensuring that the school budget is spent appropriately. As such, much of our time is spent working with Mrs Johnson and the senior leadership team to continually review and refine the quality of our provision through our subcommittee meetings. Boost Life SkillsBOOST Life Skills understands the importance of a balanced set of soft & employability skills along with academic grades to give a student the best possible chance in life. We excel at delivering training into schools, academies and colleges across the UK; our main objectives are: for the students to enjoy and be interactive with the learning to increase their awareness of their own skills and development areas, and to increase their confidence levels for the students to understand what’s expected of them in future years All courses are prepared, school branded and delivered according to the year group and the learning outcomes required by yourself. We can even provide you with a set of homework questions for the students to work on related to the delivery. Deliveries can be to form time, a lesson, enrichment periods, drop downs, assemblies, work experience and careers weeks or summer school; all onsite or online. BOOST Life Skills also co-hosts and delivers online during evenings to parents to help them understand how they can support students with the development of these skills. Online is very scalable across multiple classes at the same time for the same single cost per lesson. A PDF 1 page summary, learning log and school/academy branded certificate for the students are also available. Onsite training delivery costs are more variable due to complexity and location and are available on discussion/application. BOOST Life Skills are proud of our network of trainers that deliver interactive soft/employability skills training into schools, academies and colleges across the UK. The training is delivered by myself, built upon my 25 years of experience in multi-national businesses and recruitment up to Director level, or a skilled trainer with substantial educational training and work environment experience that really understands the importance of these essential skills.
