THIS MEANS THAT OUR WELLBEING IS A CRUCIAL PART OF THE LIVES WE LIVE AND THE WORK WE DO.  PUT SIMPLY, GROWING OURSELVES HAPPIER WILL MAKE US MORE RESILIENT, RESOURCEFUL, AND ADAPTABLE.  THERE IS, HOWEVER, A CHALLENGE. THIS KIND OF GROWTH TAKES THE RIGHT KIND OF NURTURING AND THE RIGHT KIND OF SUPPORT. FORTUNATELY, THAT'S WHAT WE'RE ALL ABOUT! ENHANCING WELLBEING MEANS A TYPE OF LEARNING THAT'S NOT SO MUCH ABOUT WHAT WE KNOW, BUT WHO WE ARE - A TYPE OF LEARNING THAT TAKES US TO THE VERY EDGE OF OUR AWARENESS AND ABILITY. IT'S ABOUT GROWING OURSELVES AND SOMETIMES THAT IS TOUGH. I’m Sharon. I've been sewing and making stuff for as long as I can remember and went on to study Embroidered Textile design at Glasgow School of Art, but my interest in textiles goes way beyond stitch and I have a range of textiley skills which I bring to my work.  I always wanted to learn to crochet when I was wee but with no-one to teach me it took until 2011 when I decided I was just going to have to teach myself! I was too impatient to take it step by step so jumped straight in at the deep end and just had a go at all the things I really wanted to learn to make - flowers, fruit, vegetables, animals, Amigurumi; regardless of whether the pattern said they were for beginner, intermediate or expert! Within a month or 2 I was doing some simple designing and began selling crocheted goodies and patterns through my Etsy shop. I'm totally hooked! Making up for lost time I literally haven't put my crochet hook down as I continue to fine tune, develop skills and discover even more. My approach to teaching is pretty similar. Learning a new craft is all about repitition but that doesn't mean you have to make things just for the sake of it, or because someone says it's suitable for a beginner. I would encourage anyone thinking about taking up crochet or looking to develop their skills to choose things to make that appeal to you, why not challenge yourself and I'll do my best to help and encourage you along the way. I firmly believe that if you love what you're making, even if it's a little beyond your skill level, you're more likely to enjoy, learn and be inspired by the process. And the results are all the more rewarding, even if they're not always perfect. But if you prefer to build your skills from the basics up I do suggest what skill level classes are suitable for and how tricky they are on the fiddly diddly scale! Everything we make during a CAL is designed by me and patterns are written using US crochet terms. You can create the most amazing things with the most basic of stitches and that's what I try to highlight as a designer, but I don't always do things the easiest way; where necessary I prefer to show you slightly more advanced techniques and share tips that I think will help you achieve a better and neater finish to your projects; things I wish someone had been able to show me when I was learning.  Crochet-Alongs are held online via Zoom with patterns and access being sent the evening before. On the day I have an additional camera to give guests close up hand views as we're working. A Sew Silly Lily Crochet-Along is an amazing opportunity for me to share my passion for crochet and hopefully inspire you to find out more about this beautiful and versatile craft. 🌟 About Me: Hello there! I'm Julie, a dedicated professional in the driver education industry with a passion for guiding individuals towards becoming safe and qualified drivers. My journey began in 2003 when I achieved my qualification as a Driving Instructor, realizing a lifelong ambition and following in my father's footsteps. Helping young people navigate the road to safe driving has always been at the core of my mission. Life took an unexpected turn when my now ex- husband received an opportunity to work in Dubai, leading us to embark on a 15-year adventure in the Middle East. During this time, I temporarily stepped away from teaching. However, upon our return to the UK, the challenge of finding a Professional Driving Instructor for my 17-year-old daughter opened my eyes to the struggles parents face. This personal experience ignited my determination to re-qualify as an instructor, and I found immense joy in helping my daughter and other students achieve their driving dreams. In the wake of the global changes brought about by Covid, the demand for Driving Instructors soared. Distressed parents, unable to find professional help, approached me daily. Witnessing this struggle motivated me to create online courses, offering parents valuable insights and guidance for supporting their teenagers through the learning process. I also initiated the "Private Practice" Facebook Group, a community where I freely share advice to enhance home practice. 🚗 Online Courses: My online courses are designed to empower parents to provide the right support at home, ensuring their teenagers receive effective training. Having experienced the challenges firsthand, I understand the importance of quality instruction during private practice. Through these courses, I aim to bridge the gap and equip parents with the knowledge and skills needed to guide their teens safely to success. Whether it's learner drivers passing their tests or supervising drivers facilitating effective private practice,  I am here, committed, and ready to serve. Find out why I'm so passionate about helping women create a healthy lifestyle .... I'm Kirsty, a 52 year old who has been working in the health and fitness industry for over 30 years. Having been a keen sportsperson from a young age, I know first-hand what exercise has done for me in my life. This helped develop my passion for helping others to learn the benefits of exercise for themselves. As a mum of two boys who has lived through divorce, car accidents, broken ribs, a gall bladder operation, heart palpitations and a prolapsed disk, my life has certainly had its ups and downs. As a working mum, I have juggled bringing up my boys with both full and part-time employment, whilst using evenings and weekends to set up my private fitness business, teach classes and support women. So I know what it’s like to be a busy woman …. What I have learnt…. How our life’s journey affects our health, the impact of life’s pressures and just being a busy mum. We often find it is hard to put ourselves first, but neglecting our own health and wellbeing can cause weight gain, reduce energy levels, affect sleep and how we cope with stress. This can eventually lead to low self-esteem, anxiety and depression. While recovering from various illnesses and injuries, I have learnt that planning, preparation and determination are essential. It is this positive mindset that I'd like to pass on to my clients. What I can do for you…. Sometimes we need to take stock of where we are, what we want to achieve and set goals to help us take control of our future. I can help you understand how to achieve your goals and appreciate what changes you need to make. I can guide you to take manageable steps towards lifestyle changes and overcome barriers that may have prevented you from achieving things in the past. I have developed a passion for women’s health from pre & post-natal exercise to menopause and older women. As I started the menopause early and have tried a variety of methods to relieve the symptoms including HRT, I wanted to learn more about the effects of menopause on women. By understanding what happens to our bodies on an almost scientific bases I begun to realise how menopause has such an impact on so many aspects of our minds and bodies. It has become such an interesting journey learning more about menopause and how we need to change the way we eat, exercise, sleep, deal with stress and so much more. I am continually learning and researching women’s health. Every time I do a course one of the groups will ask another new question and I will do my best to go away and find out an answer if I do not know it myself. This us how I will learn with you. We will celebrate wins however small, recognising achievements can help us visualise the end goal and that it is reachable. Working flexibly to find exercise that you like, foods you enjoy and habits that are sustainable. Let’s do this … my aim is to create a healthy lifestyle together.

I'm a former board level executive director who rose quickly ... and became burnt out, young. I am also a former voice artist - something which served me well when a life-changing injury occurred in 2006. I suffered a ‘hip replacement gone wrong’ which left me with major arterial internal bleeding and genuinely fighting for my life ... physically of course, and subsequently mentally too as the months of physical recovery and pain rolled into many years. I went from being a high-achieving, fast-paced, super capable person, to someone who needed to learn to walk again. That took its toll. And years of pain and effort. Cultivating self-compassion and mindfulness helped me find a way through. Sounds trite almost doesn't it? But it's powerfully, powerfully true. Catherine Kell Meaningful and adaptable teaching I have studied hard to do the work I do, to get all the necessary qualifications and registrations (more on those below). Yet what exams and qualifications alone can't give someone is the heart to do the work. That 'in the veins' pulse to help improve the life of another. And I believe my journey gives me the authenticity to bring compassion-based approaches meaningfully and wholeheartedly to others. I embody what I teach, and I bring kindness, sincerity, warmth, and of course compassion to every interaction. I'm friendly and lively too! I bring an adaptable pace and tone depending on the environment. I'm passionate about bringing the skills of self-compassion and mindfulness into people's lives to help them make transformations, build their resources and step into their full expression and power from a place of self-acceptance and inner strength. It's a privilege to witness the unfolding of all aspects of their good health. Qualifications and Education Catherine has had a personal mindfulness and meditation practice since 2006. She is a qualified and authorised Trained Teacher of the evidence-based and empirically-supported Mindful Self-Compassion programmes and trained through the globally renowned Center for Mindful Self-Compassion in their intensive MSC programme developed by self-compassion pioneers Kristin Neff PhD and Christopher Germer PhD. She is trauma-sensitive in all her work, undertaking ongoing CPD in the trauma field. She has an MA Degree with Honours and as well as her training as a Mindfulness Teacher she holds a Professional Certification in Clinical and Therapeutic Mindfulness for applied use in 1-to-1 session work. Additionally, Catherine is an alumni of Compassion Cultivation Training with the Compassion Institute, a scientifically-backed and evidence-based training programme developed at Stanford University, as well as various compassion, mindfulness, meditation and lovingkindness professional development programs with Tara Brach and Sharon Salzberg, both global leaders in compassion and mindfulness. Catherine is also a Trained Teacher with the Mindfulness in Schools Project, and has passionately brought her skillset to scores of teenagers and school staff as a teacher of kindfulness, gratitude practices and the MiSP evidence-based 10-week mindfulness curriculum developed specifically for pupils and staff in schools. Catherine is a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist (Dip.Cl.Hyp (Distinction), Cl.NLP, CNHC Reg., SICH HPD, MNCH(Reg.) and Paediatric Clinical Hypnotherapist (Dip.Hyp Paediatrics (Distinction). In her past work with children, Catherine had a particular interest in anxiety, panic attacks and sleep, helping children and adolescents from the age of around 7 to 18. Today, working with adults, Catherine uses hypnosis in a coaching capacity rather than a clinical one in order to help those working with her to cultivate self-compassion, boost life-satisfaction, uplevel and truly thrive. Previously, Catherine provided in-depth parenting support and empowerment services for whole families either in office from a local health centre, or via home visits. Catherine led specialist therapeutic support and learning sessions for mothers based around cultivating mindful self-compassion and strengthening the parent-child connection in parenting. Catherine is a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator, holds a Diploma In Positive Parenting and is a graduate of the 'Parenting by Connection Professionals Programme' with Hand in Hand Parenting. Catherine draws all her rich experience into every interaction. She is passionate about guiding people in developing the capacity to be with themselves in the kindest and most supportive way. Self-compassion can truly transform lives. Catherine is an accomplished speaker and provider of workshops and talks. She has contributed as a mindfulness and self-compassion expert to many podcasts and a number of mental health books.
