David Simon is an author and educationalist. He is the author of the Genius series that includes the best-selling books How to Unlock Your Child’s Genius and How to Unlock Your Genius Using Black History. He co-founded Simon Education in 1987 which has gone on to support over 6000 African-Caribbean families in the UK. He has won numerous awards as an educationalist and a novelist/poet, including the Peterloo Poetry Award. He is also the founder of Black Book Festival, an annual event to promote Black writers globally. David’s other publications includes: Secrets of the Sapodilla (1986), the play Mountaintop (1987) which was nominated for the London Fringe Awards, the novels Garvey’s Last Soldier (1999) and Pastor Pastor (2019). The company currently runs a publishing house, an online school and provides teacher-training to schools in Africa and the Caribbean. Leonora Simon-Bleasdille has worked as a scientist for over 35 years and taught students at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. She co-founded Ebony Supplementary Saturday School, now Simon Education, where I taught English, mathematics, science, and Black history for over 35 years. Nneb Akpom-Simon has worked in supplementary education for 30 years; tutoring and coaching children, young people and parents. Alexandra was born in the USA and spent her formative years in London and Glasgow. Her musical abilities were recognised from a very young age and she began having regular piano and vocal lessons at the age of four. Alexandra had the honour of being the youngest singing student to be accepted at the prestigious Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. Whilst studying there, she benefited from singing lessons, vocal workshops and master-classes with both formidable voice teachers and visiting leading professionals. This early exposure to such a high standard of coaching was a great source of inspiration for an aspiring young soprano. Alexandra was invited to attend the Association Of Teachers Of Singing training course for four consecutive years, which provided her with a solid foundation for developing her own teaching technique which she loves to share in her own teaching lessons. Having always had a special love of Scotland, it seemed to be a natural progression for her to complete her studies at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Glasgow (now known as The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) where Alexandra was awarded her Bachelor of Music with Honours Degree. Now based in Central Scotland and accessible from Falkirk, Stirling, Glasgow amd Edinburgh, Alexandra enjoys working as a freelance singer (soprano) and singing teacher. She is currently delighted to be working with Music in Hospitals and Care (MiHC) with whom she has regular concert engagements and tours.

Swimming has always been a part of my life. My mum was a swimming teacher so taught me from a very young age. She also introduced me to the open water side over a decade ago and I was instantly hooked. I love everything about being in the open water; from seeking out quick dips in beautiful wild places, to pushing my limits over distance or in races, to swapping stories over steaming mugs of post-swim hot chocolate. I also love triathlon and have been lucky enough to stand on the podium a number of times as well as competing in five age group World Championship races, with a best place finish of 4th. I’m an STA Level 2 Open Water Swimming Coach and Swimming Teacher, a Mountain Leader, and an RLSS Beach Lifeguard. I also have degrees in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience and Translational Neuroscience, and a keen interest in performance psychology and exercise for mental health and rehabilitation. I set up Swim Snowdonia to reflect my personal values and passion for all aspects of swimming. To showcase the many incredible and diverse wild swimming locations in North Wales. To provide a safe, supportive and fun environment for swimmers to improve their confidence and proficiency. To deliver high quality coaching to those wishing to improve technique, speed, strength, and endurance. And, to cultivate a protective instinct for the environment by demonstrating its wonder, worth and fragility.

Rebecca Dennis, international breath and body coach and workshop leader is the founder of www.breathingtree.co.uk. Based out of London and also travelling and teaching internationally, Rebecca is an expert in breathwork and body-based therapies. She facilitates workshops, events and retreats alongside her public speaking and in-person work A gifted speaker and coach, her expertise and passion centres around breathwork, trauma release, somatic modalities, polyvagal theory and nervous system regulation. Rebecca fervently believes that embodied breathwork is the ultimate key to our well-being, health and inner peace. Rebecca has been practicing holistic and alternative therapies for over 20 years and holds a Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology and an ITEC Diploma in Swedish and Sports Massage. She has trained to co-trainer level with Founder of Transformational Breath, Judith Kravitz as well as Donna Fahri, Max Strom and other masters and influential teachers of breathwork, bodywork, and other healing modalities. On her journey with holistic practices, she also has qualified in coaching, deep tissue massage, trauma therapy, acupressure, somatic bodywork, mindfulness, reiki, shiatsu and shamanic healing traditions from indigenous tribes and elders. She is continually learning and inspired by the simple power of our breath and how it can change lives including her own.
