I live in Birmingham with my Partner James and my 3 wonderful Children - Flynn, Coel and Phoebe. I have enjoyed signing with my older sister, through my work - working with children/adults with additional needs and A/autism and with my own children! Using baby signing with my children (starting with Flynn in 2001!), it helped them to tell me what they wanted/needed or how they were feeling. Baby signing boosted their confidence, helped them to be included and lessened their frustration! It really is amazing when your baby can start a 'conversation' with you about something that they are interested in! My children could tell me so, so much with their signs, before they were physically able to tell me with their voices - just wonderful! They were all super keen to say the words that they were signing too, which eventually happened in abundance! Flynn and Coel are both now very articulate, happy boys, who are proud to still be able to sign. My Daughter Phoebe is now 5 and she adored her Sing and Sign journey! She really is an avid dinosaur fan and I believe that she could actually talk the hind legs off a donkey (or T-Rex), telling you all the dinosaur names! She has started school now and as with her brothers, her teachers are amazed at her astounding vocabulary and she proudly shares her signing! It really is a magical and wonderful skill to learn together and one that can be taken on through life too! My work prior to this has always been promoting rights and inclusion - why shouldn't little ones have this too?! I study British Sign Language (BSL) also and I am currently at Level 3 and I am passionate about Deaf Awareness too. Being so passionate about communication and baby signing lead to me wanting to tell the World! - well Birmingham at least and so I bought my own little bit of Sing and Sign! I am very excited and happy to be able share Sing and Sign with you!

Sonia Hollis is a hearing British Sign Language Interpreter based in Northamptonshire. She works freelance as an interpreter for various sign language agencies covering different settings such as medical, education, social services and community interpreting. There is a huge demand for people wanting to learn British Sign Language online especially as a hobby or as a supplement to academic classroom learning. To help meet this demand Learn Sign Language (LSL) engaged the services of various Deaf professionals to help create the unique sign language packages online which incorporates BSL storytelling, using our own branded colour story sequence pictures, and BSL dialogues showing conversations between Deaf people.

I was introduced to BSL in 2001 by a wonderful Communication Support Worker (CSW). She encouraged me to learn the basics of the language, took me to Deaf Club and my signing journey began with a BSL Level 1 Qualification. Over 20 years later that CSW is now a Qualified Interpreter, but what about my signing? For me there have been major changes in my career, my business and my personal life but my love of signing is still there! After recently navigating 8 formal exams in 2022 I successfully gained my BSL Level 4 Qualification! I am now studying for BSL Level 6 with a wonderful Deaf Tutor in London I have over 25 years of corporate training delivery experience which I now use to deliver Continuing Professional Development workshops to Early Years settings and the Education Sector I also spend a couple a days of week working in a local mainstream school supporting Deaf pupils with BSL

Welcome to Hands to Communicate We deliver accredited British Sign Language courses such as Entry level three, Level one and Level two. We also offer deaf awareness courses. We set up as a Community Interest Company in 2017 after the local authorities ceased the delivery of British Sign Language in adult education centres. We have delivered accredited BSL courses with still a 100% pass rate on all our entry level three courses and our level one courses, with a high rate of people continuing their learning and completing their level two BSL course with a 98% pass rate. We have developed specialist courses taylored to organisation / businesses needs and worked privately with nurseries and school to support the children in the setting and their families Our aim is to breakdown the communication barriers and make British Sign Language more accessible for adults and children. The more people learning BSL to overcome the language barrier between to deaf and hearing communities, the more understanding and connected our communities will become. This course will be delivered as four separate Learning Outcomes covering a range of assessment criteria and topic-related vocabulary.
