This course will explain all aspects of the rules of origin and trade agreements and how to understand and comply with them to help companies be more competitive in export markets. As exporters and Importers, we should be encouraged to trade with countries which we have preferential trading agreements with. We will look at the impact of the EU Union Customs Code (UCC) on the application, the requirement for duty guarantees and administrative processes involved in managing IP. As well as reviewing the IP application form and the C99/ C&E812 suspension returns, we will also look at what internal processes are required. Commodity codes are used worldwide to determine the customs duty and other charges levied on the goods when importing and exporting. They also determine any preferential treatments or restrictions and prohibitions that may apply to the goods and are used for monitoring trade volumes and applying international trade measures. This workshop covers the five main types of payment for exports, from advance payment to open account, including Sight Documentary Collection, Term Documentary Collection and Documentary Letters of Credit. It includes the use of Bills of Exchange with and without documents. Over 75 per cent of first presentations to banks against documentary letters of credit are rejected, resulting in delayed payments to exporters, additional costs and breached delivery deadlines. The course will give delegates a better understanding of how important it is to get it right first time avoiding delayed payment of goods exported.
