<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Spend an afternoon learning to sew a sports bra to fit you. &nbsp;We will be using the Brazi Bra pattern by Stitch Upon A Time and Lindsey will be on hand to ensure you get the perfect fit and manage the construction effectively. &nbsp; The pattern comes with options for Cups C and below and then D and above and has been tested up to F cup.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Lindsey will be there to help you with adjustments so your bra fits well and is supportive. &nbsp;She will guide you through construction of the garment.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">As always you will receive a warm welcome and tea and cake to keep you energised as you make your bra. &nbsp;</p>

Join Jenny from The Scottish Soapworks to learn how to make your own shampoo and soap bars using methods you can use at home.
You will learn about the benefits of the essential oils Jenny uses in her tried and tested recipes, and take home all the soap and shampoo bars you make on the day. 
After your workshop, you will be sent a set of notes including details of the ingredients, equipment and recipes used, plus a list of suppliers so you can continue making your own shampoo and soap bars at home.
This is a great workshop for those who want to cut back on packaging; know more about the ingredients they use on their skin and hair - and which ultimately end up in our rivers and oceans; and for saving money by making your own. It's also a fun creative activity to do at home with other family members.

<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">This ongoing course will cover an introduction to patchwork on the sewing machine. <span fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;" fr-original-class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp; Over 6 sewing sessions with some homework you will create this&nbsp;</span>fabulous &#39;Tea with Penelope&#39; quilt by Living in Loveliness finished size 42 x 42 inches. [105 x 105 cm]. You will have the pattern to keep (RRP &pound;9.99) with instructions and colour photos.&nbsp;</p>
<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Once you have booked on I will give you the shopping list (don&#39;t forget you can also shop from your stash and/or wardrobe) with instructions on what fabrics to buy. &nbsp;If you need any guidance feel free to call or drop into the studio. &nbsp;You will also need a quarter inch presser foot for your sewing machine.&nbsp;</p>

Join us over 5 weekly sessions to make this quilt top, you will need to do some homework to get finished but you will learn how to make each area of the quilt with guidance from Janine from Fat Quarter Quilting who is also the designer of this quilt.

This quilt is designed to showcase fussy-cut fabric pieces that are appliquéd onto the quilt blocks. The intricate details are achieved by using larger appliqué pieces, keeping the overall process simple and beginner-friendly. Each week, we will focus on different techniques and blocks to build your quilt step-by-step.
Over the five three hour sessions you will learn how to applique, create flying geese,  corner stones, triangle blocks, piano keys border.  Janine will also guild you on to adjusting your borders to make your quilt balanced.

Once you have finished the quilt top you can either quilt on your domestic machine - we can support you with this.   Alternatively you could take advantage of Janine's long arm quilting services.

If so, join us on our Free 3-Session Online Learning Taster Course, an introduction to our January-start degrees. This course has been designed to give you a taste of what it is like to study with us virtually, as well as giving you tailored support for your university application. You will get a virtual art university experience, and a chance to meet some of the lecturers for the subjects you are interested in studying.
You’ll get an insight into how our January-start degrees are taught, how you submit work and how you can develop your skills. This course has been designed to help you feel equipped to commence your studies in January 2025, on one of our January-start degrees.

Each of the below sessions will consist of a lecture, workshop or project alongside the chance to ask any questions about making your application..

Join us for an exciting and engaging workshop led by published children’s book illustrator and author and Arts University Plymouth lecturer, Jack Viant. This interactive session promises to be both fun and educational, featuring hands-on activities and elements designed to keep you fully engaged.

Session 2 - Wednesday 20 November 2024, 3 hrs / 8:45am - 11:45am
Experience a live lecture from Jason Hirons, our Course Leader for Distance Learning. This interactive session will give you a preview of what it's like to be part of our dynamic online distance learning course, engage with course content and ask questions in real time.

Session 3 - Wednesday 18 December 2024, 3 hrs / 8:45am - 11:45am
Enjoy an informative and engaging session led by the Adam Levi, our Senior Learning Technologist and all-round expert in tools for digital education. In this session, you'll gain valuable insights into navigating Canvas, our online learning platform, ensuring you feel confident in managing your coursework, accessing resources, and participating in discussions. You'll also have the opportunity to engage in an interactive workshop designed to enhance your learning experience.
As a student on one of our January-start degrees, you’ll join a truly global community of creative learners. This hybrid degree allows you to complete your first year of studies remotely by July 2025, before taking a short summer break and then continuing straight on to the second year of your chosen degree, studying in-person at our city-centre Plymouth campus, in September 2025. This option is available for the following degrees:

Interested in studying at Arts University Plymouth in January 2025

Able to meet Arts University Plymouth Language requirements, more information on this here (International students)
Eligible for at least 3 years of student funding or looking at self-funding a Higher Education course. (More information on if you are eligible can be found at https://www.gov.uk/student-finance/who-qualifies.)
