Bradwell Blacksmiths - The Iron Lady

bradwell blacksmiths - the iron lady

Worthing

Natalie Bradwell is The Iron Lady, taking on any job in metal, except cars and horseshoes!  From working on docks and muddy sites, to breweries and farms, to chaotic sculpture studios and workshops, The Iron Lady has gained a range of experience in a short time. Spanning food, agriculture, oil and gas, manufacturing and arts industries – thanks to her ability to see metal as a material and communicate with clients how metal works for them. This obsession with metals; steels, copper, aluminium etc, the chemistry of change and our ability to manipulate are what drives Natalie to search for the next challenge and the next opportunity to learn. After some 15 years of experience, The Iron Lady frequently undertook private work whilst working for other companies – it all started with a falling down hay store with a salvaged forge, anvil, table, stick welder and grinder, and a trusty van. Now at her third workshop, Bradwell Blacksmiths is finally a full time concern, apprentice in tow and a light industrial workshop which is also a place of learning, experimentation, art and creativity. Most recently, The Iron Lady has started running courses in welding, fabrication, metalwork and blacksmithing, for beginners, companies and those wanting to improve their existing skills. With space and equipment for 4 people at a time, Natalie is now sharing what she has learnt from all the craftsmen and women from her past metal adventures. And so to many more adventures in metal for The Iron Lady!

Maleficent Things

maleficent things

I created Maleficent Things in 2016 out of my love of movies and fondness for fairytales. I began by making a collection of character themed charm bracelets representing princesses, heroines, villains and the misunderstood, from the likes of Cinderella to Hermione, the Evil Queen to Maleficent herself. Since then I have designed hundreds of items inspired by films, fairytales and literature. From quote pendants and pins to pin cushions and watercolour prints, Maleficent Things presents an enchanting collection of original film, fairytale and book inspired jewellery, stationery and gifts. I am delighted to also offer private workshops, jewellery making classes and parties for adults and children. All can be tailored to create the perfect bespoke package, so do get in touch if you would like to discuss ideas. When the pandemic made workshops and parties difficult, I created make-at-home craft kits to help people enjoy creative happy time at home, and so Charming Crafty Things was born. I now have a wide range of kits available here on this website, and you can find a handpicked selection on my Charming Crafty Things Etsy and Small and Beautiful shops too. I studied Art many moons ago and am delighted to once again have the opportunity to paint, design and create, alongside looking after my three delightful boys (superhero powers: sarcasm, hugs and sideblinding) and a huge fluffy dog (superhero power: mood enhancement). I thoroughly enjoy designing my Maleficent Things and creating crafty kits brimming with beautiful materials so that you can make your own lovely things too. I hope you enjoy your Crafty Charming Things as much as I do!

Edinburgh

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh was founded in 1505 by Royal Charter granted from King James IV. From the discoveries of Simpson and Lister to modern day pioneers of medicine and dentistry who are developing simulation, VR, and robotics, the College has been a seat of learning and advancement for over 515 years. It is the oldest Surgical College in the world with just under 30,000 members in 100 countries, almost half of whom are overseas, touching every stage of the career path from medical student to consultant. We are a family of Surgeons, Dental Surgeons and members of the Surgical and Dental teams who put Patient Safety at the heart of everything they do. Our high quality education and examinations ensure that standards are upheld across all specialities and in all countries. With our interest in professional standards, the College’s primary role – and the main concern of our Fellows and Members – is to ensure the safety of our patients and provide them with the best possible care. We do this by championing the highest standards of surgical and dental practice; through our provision of courses and educational programmes, training, examinations, and Continuous Professional Development; our liaison with external medical bodies; and by influencing healthcare policy across the UK. We also support our professional family with a host of resources from our membership App, Library Services, Podcasts, Webinars, and our magazine, Surgeons News, to keep them up to date on the latest techniques, news, data, and insights in their field. College headquarters are in Edinburgh in our home at Surgeons Hall, the world famous category A listed building designed by William Henry Playfair in 1832. Our main Campus hosts a dedicated skills laboratory, the Surgeons' Hall Museums, College Library, function and meeting facilities, a 129 bedroom hotel, Ten Hill Place, and office space for over 210 staff. We also maintain a second site in Birmingham’s prestigious Colmore Row and a third International Office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to meet the needs of our growing international membership.
