Make full use of the Stitching Kitchen Studio and fabric stash to get creative with Fabric and Thread.&nbsp;&nbsp;Using one of my designs as inspiration or perhaps working from your own photo or sketch you will create a piece of textile art from the wide variety of fabric textures, embelishments and threads.&nbsp;&nbsp;Using the sewing and embellisher machines. &nbsp; Further embellishment to add more texture and depth using a variety of yarns, threads and beads, buttons and sequins can be added by either hand or machine stitch.&nbsp;
The finished piece can be framed to hang on a wall or incorporated into another project.&nbsp;
Your tutor will be Hannah, the owner of Stitching Kitchen. &nbsp; She set up the business in 2017 to share her passion and skills in all things involving textiles, fabric and threads.&nbsp; Her courses are relaxed and fun, they are held in her Stitching Kitchen Studio in Brackley, Northants where she provides a range of teas, coffee and homemade cakes.
Full instruction from Hannah is included in the course along with all the materials you need to create your own piece of textile art.&nbsp;&nbsp;The tools and equipment needed will all be available to you so you only need to bring yourself. &nbsp;&nbsp;Although if you would like to use your own sewing machine please feel free to bring it along.&nbsp;

Creative Textiles, Applique and Fabric Collage

General admission

Starting with a photo or perhaps sketching a sea scape for yourself we will cut out pieces of fabric from the Stitching Kitchen Stash and apply them to the background using a combination of iron on adhesive and stitch. Further embellishment using a variety of threads and beads, buttons and sequins can be added using a sewing machine, you can use your machine for standard sewing or free motion as you wish.&nbsp;

Join the crafty fun at Stitching Kitchen for a machine Applique workshop, we will use a range of fabrics and embellishments to create a textured picture using a sea scape as inspiration. 

Appliqué Workshop - Seascape - using Sewing Machine

This workshop is a slow and steady mindful stitching class where we will use linen and wool fabrics to create an appliqu&eacute; design of your choice. &nbsp;Using a range of simple but effective embroidery stitches in thicker thread to stand out with the woollen fabrics.This class is suitable for all and will allow us all to slow down, appreciate the fabrics and thread and put our busy lives aside for a few hours. &nbsp;Linen and wool are my favourite fabrics to hand stitch with.Your design may not be complete at the end of the session but you can take away all you need in terms of materials and knowledge to complete your textile art at home. &nbsp;You can frame your creation or use in a cushion or to decorate a bag. &nbsp;As always tea, cake are included in the workshop price along with all materials and tuition.&nbsp;

All sewing machines benefit from regular cleaning and basic maintenance.&nbsp;&nbsp;Do you know how to care for your machine?&nbsp;&nbsp;During this workshop Jenny will teach you how to clean and maintain your sewing machine and provide you with a helpful guide to take home. &nbsp;She will also cover needles, threads and tension so you get a well rounded overview of how your machine works mechanically so you can troubleshoot the typical problems sewing machine users face.&nbsp;&nbsp;At the end of the session you will be able to confidently clean your machine and know when you need to consult a repair engineer.Bring along your sewing machine and its instruction manual.&nbsp;About the tutorJenny Feeney was born in upstate New York. &nbsp;She moved to the UK &nbsp;in 1999 when I married hubby in Banbury.&nbsp;&nbsp;She has been quilting for over 30 years, is self-taught and soon began designing her own patterns.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jenny discovers that Applique is her passion, together with machine and hand quilting with embroidery embellishments.&nbsp;&nbsp;She began teaching around 2017 and expanded into machine servicing and repairs in 2022.&nbsp; As always you will received a warm welcome and a cuppa and cake.&nbsp;&nbsp;This workshop will be held in the sewing studio upstairs at Stitching Kitchen.&nbsp;

Sewing machine maintenance DIY workshop

Learn how to set up your domestic machine for free motion embroidery or drawing with a sewing machine. &nbsp;
Get started with some simple exercises and then practice the technique to develop confidence in free motion stitching.
Design a simple picture and complete a small applique and free motion embroidery picture during the three hour session.If you would rather focus on free motion for quilting we can set up a small quilt sandwich and get started on some regular quilting patterns and motifs.&nbsp;
Please note you will need a sewing machine which is capable of dropping the feed dogs and a darning foot - please call me if you have any question about your machines capability for free motion stitching.
A cuppa and cake will be available to all participants and materials will also be provided.&nbsp;

A starting class covering the absolute basics of free motion embroidery with plenty of hints and tips to get your started with this very satisfying technique.
