If you undertake the full course you will be trained in all aspects needed to become a competent, confident, thoughtful and considerate Alexander teacher, and you will gain a life-transforming professional qualification. Whichever course you choose, we want to provide the best Alexander training possible – enabling you to deepen your Alexander understanding and skills to enrich your life and find greater resilience, poise and joy. You are likely to enjoy some profound mind-body (physical, mental and emotional) changes during the training as you begin to embody Alexander principles and skills. You will benefit from working in a small group setting with a highly skilled training team and a low student-to-trainer ratio (usually around 3-to-1 and never more than than 5-to-1). We seek an inclusive approach, welcoming students and teachers from different backgrounds and life experiences, encompassing (but not limited to) race, class, gender identity, sexuality, age, mental and physical health, pregnancy and carer role Wide ranging and rich: many different teaching styles and perspectives come from a diverse training team that includes senior visiting teachers from throughout the UK Outward looking: engaging with other disciplines where relevant, for example, neuroscience, myofascial integration, biomechanics, other mindful movement-based practices, and trauma therapies Principle and evidence based: teaching based on the fundamental principles of the Alexander Technique supported by the available research, as well as anatomy and physiology Openness and inquisitiveness: non-mainstream ideas and influences will be explored wherever this can contribute to understanding Rigorous: robust, standardised assessment method for certification. On an ongoing basis, students will be required to actively engage and commit to their own development (on a practical level this includes projects being completed and any missed time made up) Professional: In addition to ‘learning by osmosis’ from the professional culture of the course, there will be specific training around codes of conduct, CNHC, running a practice etc. Students are encouraged to think widely about what they can contribute during and after the training – to STAT and to the wider profession of Alexander teaching Continuous and Ongoing: graduates are encouraged to continue to visit the school on a regular basis to gain experience as a teacher until they feel sufficiently established. A mentoring system provides each graduate with an experienced teacher who they can call on for ongoing advice and support.

Our goal at Edinburgh University Cricket Club is to promote a passion for the game within the university and the wider community. We are a large and inclusive club of seven teams (four men’s, two women’s and a social XI) and compete in both indoor and outdoor competitions. We offer a diverse winter and busy summer schedule to suit any level of ability or commitment. We train three times a week, with specialist coaching available from Joe Kinghorn-Gray, Craig Yelverton and Aashiq Rhode. Our elite indoor squads have extra sessions to maintain our prowess in National Finals. Our Semester One Varsity Day, with both men’s and women’s matches against St Andrews, is always a day to remember that everyone gets involved in. We have a vibrant social scene, with socials and events throughout the semester, giving squads the chance to mix and friendships to blossom. Our annual Casino Night and Ball are some of the biggest nights of the year, and are a chance to dress up in the name of charity. There is also the opportunity to participate in various intramural sports, such as football, netball and hockey, if one sport isn’t enough for you! Our men’s and women’s 1st XI squads play at the highest standard in the BUCS Northern Premier divisions, while the rest of our squads play throughout Scotland. 2022 saw the exciting addition of a women’s 2nd XI and a Social XI, making our club even bigger and better than ever! Edinburgh School of Music is an independent music school based in Edinburgh city centre. We are a team of highly experienced, enthusiastic and professional teachers who provide music lessons in a wide range of instruments. Our goal at ESM is to bring the love of music into all our student's lives in a fun and enjoyable way as well as providing all the necessary skills to pass exams, perform with confidence and compose music and songs. We are very proud to maintain a 100% pass rate in all our student's instrumental and vocal music exams making us Edinburgh's favourite music school for private music lessons. One - to - one tuition Lessons are available for a range of instruments including voice, piano, guitar, violin, viola, cello, saxophone, clarinet, flute, recorder and drums. We offer one to one private lessons in our studio in Meadowbank or online lessons. Groups We offer a range of music group activities including our Baby music groups (for ages 0-5), youth singing groups, performance coaching workshops and summer school music groups. Please contact us to find out the groups that are currently available. Concerts At ESM we believe that learning to make incredible music is just not as rewarding if you don’t share it with others. We provide monthly showcases at Edinburgh's Jazz Bar in addition to end of term concerts. This gives our students plenty of opportunities to showcase their progress and develops our pupils into confident performers. Unfortunately, due to current restrictions surrounding concerts, we are unable to host any concerts at this time.
