Course overview This course is the perfect opportunity to learn how to create music using Ableton Live. From the basics to the mastering, you’ll finish the course knowing how to master Ableton to create your own tracks and take them into a live performance environment. The content of the music production lessons will be adapted to your level and music taste, so you will feel much more engaged in it. Course content: – Navigate through Ableton Live – Understanding of both session and arrangement view – Program MIDI drums and instruments – Record and edit audio, including working with pre existing audio loops – Create a piece of music using MIDI and audio within Ableton Live – Warp and Edit Audio for samples and loops – Learn how to use the Synths, Samplers and Racks in Ableton Live – Sound Design and Synthesis in Ableton Live – Audio and midi effects in Ableton Live
If you only want to take a few lessons, or you want to master one or more specific functions inside Ableton live, then the single lessons will be your best choice. We can focus on what you want to learn or where you struggle the most when making music. Don’t struggle with Ableton. Enjoy the experience! When it comes to making music, we normally have ideas in our minds, but it can be hard to translate that to a music software, which can lead to frustration. Ableton is a super user-friendly program with lots of features that will make your life easier, achieving a fast and efficient workflow.
This course is for 16+ candidates who want to learn how to create, record, edit and arrange music using a range of hardware and software. The course includes setting up and operating of midi sequencing hardware and software, the use of multi-track mixing techniques and sound effects, and using synthesisers, samplers, microphones and mixing desks in music recording and production. Course costs include 6 - 9 hours of live studio time. DAW’s used include Logic Pro X & Ableton Live. Day: Tuesday & Wednesday evenings (one academic year) Times: 6pm - 9pm Who is this course for? Those that have completed or are parallel studying the Level 1 in Music Technology or have a wide interest with experience in recording and producing music with good basic skills of Music Technology software and hardware. What will I learn? This will include course objectives. •Use Midi sequencing and software •Use Midi & Audio techniques •How to use computerized file location, file saving and backup procedures •Record and mix down a combination of MIDI and AUDIO materials •How to build a portfolio of evidence to show development of your work.

The sessions are carried out either within our studios in Truro, Cornwall or remotely using ZOOM. They are designed around you the learner and your own specific wants and needs. Who is this course for? Candidates who are interested in a more one to one based learning program remotely or within a professional industry standard environment, tuition is flexible regarding days, hours and regularity. Most importantly the tutor can design a program that it suited to you and your requirements, a meeting with the tutor can be arranged beforehand to discuss a learning plan for you. Flexible 1 to 1 tutoring is a great way to learn at your own pace with no pressures and with the support of an industry expert. The Black & Gold Studio is equipped with a huge range of both industry standard recording equipment, hardware synthesizers, drum machines, fx processing and control surfaces, and that’s before we even get inside the computer!! You can be taught to use DAW’s such as Logic Pro X, Cubase, Pro Tools & Ableton Live as well as explore other 3rd party softwares such as NI Komplete, Izotope, Fabfilter, Waves and so many more.
