Upcycle with pallets - two-day course

Description

Have you ever wanted to create your own unique furniture? During this two day experience you’ll discover how to upcycle with pallets, transforming them into custom pieces for your home.

On day one you’ll learn how to source materials and discover the tools and techniques you’ll need to prepare them for upcycling. Once Scott has introduced you to the workshop tools, you’ll use a mix of hand and power tools to create your own piece of furniture. What you make is your choice, from a shoe or wine rack to a storage box, bird feeder or even a small bookcase.

For your second day you’ll be creating a one of a kind lamp from palettes. You’ll put the skills you learnt on day one to use, before discovering how to decorate your creation. You'll experiment with using different colouring techniques, from painting to ageing your wood using a blow torch. At the end of the day you’ll go home with your own unique lamp and the skills to make and decorate more upcycled pieces yourself.

All materials, tools and safety equipment will be provided and you'll have your own finished upcycled pieces to take home at the end of both days.

Everyone will need to confirm fitness each day. Everyone will have their temperature taken at the beginning of each day. Hand washing will be compulsory at set times during the courses. Face masks will be compulsory during the specific parts of the course where you will be breathing heavily due to exertion. The remainder of the course we will have face shields available as an option to facemasks. Face shields will be provided. But please bring your own face mask.

You don't need any previous woodwork experience, just some enthusiasm! Please wear old clothes (or something that you don’t mind getting damaged or torn) and sensible, closed toe footwear. Work boots are recommended. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day, but please bring along your own packed lunch. Course Location courses can be either in Glastonbury or at Scott's own workshop near the Bath and West show grounds (BA46QN) and will be confirmed.
