Saturdays 13th April and 11th May 2024 - 13h00 to 16h00. This class is taught in two sessions of 3h00 (6h00 in total)

Goldwork has been taken to the next level with this contemporary design. Incognito demonstrates how you can mix traditional techniques with contemporary embroidery to create a delight in texture and colour.
We will begin by introducing the string padding for the linear work.

In the second stage, you will be learning how to stitch the beads, sequins and crystals. Finally, you will stitch the silver grid next with smooth silver purl and gold rough purl.

In the second session, we will practise how to stitch the essing with gold and silver purl including the transitions from a thicker to a thinner part on the design. The crystals on settings will be added last to create some depth and sparkle.

Some pre-work prior to the class is required. Stitching the gold and silver pearl purls will be required prior to the class to allow time for more challenging steps in the class. The kit and detailed instructions will be send 1 month before the class starts to allow time for you to do the pre-work.

Homework in between both sessions will be required to allow a smooth transition in the class. Finishing all the steps taught in the first session will be recommended. Stitching the bump padding, all the line of beads and sequins and the gold and silver grid.

The aim of this goldwork class is at someone who has knowledge of goldwork but would like to improve their skills to get to the next level.

The class is pitched towards intermediate-advanced students and the limited class size will allow you to develop at your own pace with plenty of one to one time with the tutor.

I have been inspired by Venetian masks and I wanted to recreate the magic with this new design Incognito combining my two favourite techniques Goldwork and Beading. I wanted this mask to be classy but sparkly and combining a wide range of materials from beads, gold and silver purl and crystals.

Finished piece size is approximately 16.5cm / 10cm (6.5 / 4in)

Each kit includes: Satin fabric (with the artwork printed) , yellow guterman polyester thread, white guterman polyester thread, gilt pearl purl n1: Extra, Silver plated pearl purl n1: extra, Gilt rough purl n9, Silver plated smooth purl n8, White embroidery thread anchor, Clear flat sequins 4mm, 3 cut iridescent seed beads 10/0, Gold lined seed beads 12/0, Silver lined seed beads 12/0, Clear seed beads 12/0, White pearl 1.5mm, Xilion crystals 3mm, Chaton montee crystals SS12, Chaton montee crystals SS16, Navette sertie crystal foiled silver, John james needles (2 sharp n12 and 2 embroidery needles n12), Beeswax, detailed instructions.
