Syllabus/Course Structure and Assessment
This course is aimed at those who analyse and identify asbestos from within samples collected on site.
The main subject areas of the course are:
- What is asbestos?
- Uses, health effects and legislation
- Theory of asbestos bulk analysis
- Perform the tasks of bulk analysis of asbestos samples
Candidates are assessed on their practical competence, which culminates in a written exam (short answer questions), which is set and administered in conjunction with RSPH. On successful completion of the exam and practical task candidates will be awarded a nationally recognised RSPH certificate.

- Asbestos bulk analysts and laboratory analysts.
- Anyone who manages asbestos analysts or requires a deeper understanding of the asbestos analysis process (e.g. Laboratory Quality Manager)
